Thought i'd put the fuse back in the ABS yesterday as it was snowing and I thought it would be safer.
I was coming out of my mates street onto a main road, doing <5mph and put the clutch in 10yds before the junction to coast to a halt. I could see there was an Escort coming along the road (which is a 50mph limit) so I gently pressed the brakes to stop. All that happened was the feckin ABS came on so I was slowly rolling into the road. I must've come within 6" of the side of the Escort as it drove by, I was shitting myself as it would've caused quite a bad accident if I'd have hit it.

is there a simple way of disconecting the ABS and just run them as normal , i've had a few occasions where they've came on and would hav been better without !

You could just unplug the multi-pin connector to the ABS regulator, but if its comming on under gentle braking you got ABS issues!
yeah i had my abs come on a few times in the snow today, pain in arse lol it makes it worse, if it wasnt so cold id unplug it!

Never had a abs car yet thank god...but I believe the pedal pulses a bit and you can feel the brakes going on and off...

Yeh the pedal pulses, and if its slippy the brakes just go off lol.
The fuse is now back in the glovebox lol.

Can't remember where I read it but ABS is actually worse in the snow, because the brakes go on/off on/off etc so the tyres stay on top of the snow, where as without ABS if the wheels lock up the tyres dig down and eventually hit tarmac.
Anyway I really enjoyed the snow, driving around at 4am with the hand brake on :o]

ABS is more designed for lack of grip such as on ice/compact snow.
There was a feature on topgear a while back where clarkson was driving some horrible Jag. in the artic showing just how good the T/C and ABS was! Ya can argue the use of ABS till ya blue in the face but the day you "really" need it you'll be glad its there!

Nowt wrong with just pumping the brake lol.
The technical term for pumping the brakes is cadence braking.
