i got a new water pump, but the fins are different! this likely to be a problem?i've sat the new one in the block and its fine to spin freely etc so i dont think its an issue but the box says its for a diesel clio so i was wonderin if it wont provide as much flow etc?!
heres a cupla pics of the old one (right) and the new one (left)!

Na dont use that shit mate. It's shite and it stinks but in a bad way. Use the paper gasket or use some of 77 01 421 162. (loctite 518) It's the daddy and is what Renault now reccomend for sealing water pumps /end plates/ thermostat housings, etc. It's resistant to oil and water. If you like, I can e-mail you the Renault 16v engine overhaul manual as a PDF
tbh i used the paper gasket and silicone on mine but hylomar is fine mate if thats what you have, plentyl of ppol use it still so it cant be that shite! renault do use loctite stuff now though
Well I've used it loads of times and I still reckon it's crap. After a year or so it breaks down into an oily sludge will block the heater matrix&rad and the pump will end up leaking.
In my oppinion the hylomar stuff is an "oh crap it's saturday, the only place open is halfrauds and that's all they've got" bodge. And to add insult to injury it gets all over your hands, you cant get it off an it stinks.
lol fair enough, i've never had a car long enough after using it to see these affects  if thats what heppens then dont use it mate, apoligies for the duff info
I just get emotional about it because I remember how gutted and frustrated I was at the time when it leaked (was 200 miles from home) and not in the RAC or greenflag. Man I was pissed off.
Wouldnt like to stand by and watch someone like Coops who's spent lots of time and money getting his car on the road again make the same mistake that I made when he could buy the propper renault stuff for £3 more than the hylomar hermitite.
lol, exact same part as for the RSi engine, i just used th paper gasket they provided...and i didn't even clean teh old gasket off
Still doesn't leak :D
use the paper ghasket with no sealant.
Yes the new pump will not shift as much water and will cavitate at lower rpm but won't be a drastic problem.
my car already ran farely hot tho matey, and i dont think there is actually anything wrong with the old pump so wud i be best off keepin it?
Coops
styick the new one in, the old one's impellar is a bit far from the back plate.
