View Full Version : Fitting Megane F7R
What exactly is needed to do for this conversion? I have the option of a full megane lump with gearbox/loom/ecu etc or just a williams lump. I have a feeling ill have trouble finding a williams ecu, so would the megane engine be easier!?

Everything's fine I believe, apart from teh head needs machining to fit the dizzy.
just use the megane bottom end and find a Willy ECU or speak to chip wizards or similar as he has std engine maps and can then map it on the RR to suit.
need to use a 1.8/willy flwheel though if you want to run the stock managment.
i have been old you can pretty easily run megane everything, the only thing thats a little headache is wiring the pulse for the rev counter up
whoever told you that be a genius if its only a little wiring, the whole BIC module thus megane dash would need to be used to make it 'easy'
Right, Ive been offered a full megane lump with everything (loom, ecu, g/box etc) on 56k for 795
OR
A williams engine on 90k
the williams lump is 495, im guessing it would be easier to use that? The only thing is it would prob need a rebuild on that kind of mileage!
795, as in £795? Tell them to **** off. get one with everything for under 400 quid.
Go to the auctions and buy an early running mot'd 2l 16V coupe for £800.
yeah, bit pricey that, I pay a lot less for rebuilt bottom ends, same price for Willy and Megane ones too... which is always a bonus.
use the willy one on 90K
dont necessarily need a rebuild at that kinda milage. easier to put in than the megane engine, just plug and play. megane is more effort, and not really worth it as no extra power. and for that price of 795 quid i would go willy lump. you can find some megane lumps for as little as 200 odd quid.

Thats all I paid for my willy 3 lump, box, ecu & loom on 52k £800
Plus I got the complete interior, rear spoiler, bump strips, clear fog lights for another £300
I then spent about £500 replacing oil pump, water pump, starter, alternator, headgasket, cambelt, uprated clutch etc etc
Paul@Inifinicar was trying to sell bigchris a meggy setup for £450 iirc. May be worth giving him a bell or try Cit-Ren ( http://www.cit-ren.co.uk/partsstore.htm ) Thats where I got mine from, there out in Norwich
