Have finally made a decision regarding my car that I have owned since 1999. My uncle knows a guy that has years of experience in restoration work and is going to take the car away for a proper look to see whether it's worth the investment or not. As you can see, it needs plenty of work, both doors aswell as the tailgate are shot too. Any words of advice welcome! Thanks

Hi Nobleman... I have included your car in the register.

My word that poor old girl sure has got herself in a state:shock:

Hi,
wait for the guy to tell you if it's worth restoration or not as he has years of experience.

Its worth it if you want to keep it. You may not make money on it if you sell but then its another one saved

To be fair, the rot is mostly in the usual common places so not too much of a big deal for someone that's got the right skills but I'd say get the scuttle panel removed so the panel below the windscreen can be inspected as that'll be where it gets much more difficult if it's rusty

As for the doors & tailgate, just get replacements from any Mk1 Clio as you'll be having the sides of the car painted anyway so colour wont matter. Just be aware that the later Mk1's after 1996 have a hole for a brake light in the tailgate so getting that welded up will be an extra job but as your welder will be very busy with the car 1 more little job wont hurt

From recent experience, that will be quite a few thousands if you're paying a bodyshop to sort that out....
