we have few duplicate numbers here in the UK and also in france for example. I do not doubt that 0072 exists over in Italy as well.

From what checks I've done the chassis / vin / fabrication numbers did not follow the plaque numbers for cars here in the UK. It would appear the vin / fabrication / plaques were either fitted after the production line ended or the cars were not made numerical order.
