View Full Version : Low mileage W3, whats it worth?
I'm very vaguely thinking of selling my W3 purely for the fact that I just don't use it as much as I want to so just seems a shame sitting in my parents garage.
It's a Williams 3 with 74,000 miles and its in excellent condition throughout. Fully original. Just passed MOT. Really is a stunning car.
Any ideas on what the current market would command?

I think that it's hard to value these cars. Trawl through the last dozen that have sold and build up a price from there. Based on the ones that have sold recently from memory and the ones that are for sale, I'm gonna say £7.5-8k

I'm sure it'll feel like a good price if you sell it. You can have a lot of fun counting the twenty pound notes. I'd agree with Danno - about four hundred, twenty pound, notes.
But then if they keep going up you might wish you'd waited.
And if you ever want to take it for a drive, it won't be in your parents' garage any more, and an equivalent superb car will cost more, except it won't be the same.
100k miles Williams 1 sold at H+H car auctions for £7800 I think but it didn't look as good as your Williams 3 from your picture.
I would ask for closer to £10k if I were selling a car in that condition with low mileage and history
I saw a really ropy one sell for £5k at Anglian car auctions and it needed £5k of body work to make it look decent
I saw it before it went into the auction, it was really crap
Only thing going for it was a complete history
My opinion below is per a perspective buyer (as I am on the lookout - no offense in anyway is intended )
Please keep in mind this is a three. I am in the market at the moment for 1. I would part circa 6.5k for a 3 but up to 8 for a 1.
Hope this helps - very nice car though!

The Williams 3 is the rarest of the Williams.
I would be marketing your car for around £10.000 if I was you.
I agree totally from the condition, history and ownership provenance
£10k is what I would want from such a fine example

Similar money I would reckon
But has it been thrashed around a track as per your earlier post?
Thanks for all the responses guys, as I expected the values are all over the place.
I'll have to give it some thought...

I think Danno and I thought about 7.5-8 as a real value as in a selling price, money in your hand, I was thinking if you put it up here, it wouldn't cost a bean, and you'd probably have interested parties only enquiring. Less money received, a lot less hassle. (This is how I sold my 911, on the forum to an enthusiast, five queries, no hassle.)
ASKING prices are totally different. If I was 'vaguely thinking' of selling my Williams I wouldn't punt it out for less than 15K, on the basis that if someone wanted it that much they were welcome to it at a nuts price, and because a high ticket is going to keep some flies off if you put it on Pistonheads or Car and Classic.
It's interesting how long it is since someone has put a for sale advert on this forum. There must be a lot of people keeping an eye on it.
When interest rates go up things will either take a bit of a dive or remain vaguely upward. You pays your money...
