Hi all

Finally decided what to do and im selling the Clio, only bought it last year in September and had a few days of fun in it (put less then 1500 miles on it). However when getting it ready for use again in early April i found a lot of rust on the rear chassis / rear panel and crappy repairs in other areas and im disheartened to the point ive lost all interest in it.

I bought the car after seeing the for sale add on here and the "restoration" thread here http://williamsclio.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?43533-Help!!-MOT-Flop-Welding-Required!

Sadly its not that good :(

Anyway to the car

N808 HGP Williams 3
98,400 miles
Original Bookpack
Lots of old MOT's
Stainless steel supersprint manifold fitted with a magnex exhaust system.

it runs and drives spot on, just the shell and previous cosmetic work lets it down

previous owner fitted this lot not long before i bought it

4 new Toyo Proxes tyres (still as new)
Rear Brake discs, pads and integral wheel bearings replaced
Front discs and pads replaced
New OEM front shocks/springs/top mounts and bearings
Replaced exhaust manifold heat shield
Extensive cosmetic restoration, including new outer sills, repaired inner sills, repaired front inner wings, new jacking point, full respray excluding roof, undersealed, 2 replacement rust free doors, replaced bootlid. Panels treated with Dinotrol rust proofer
New Renault badges all round
New roof gutter trims (one brand new one refurbished)
New front indicator lenses as old ones faded
Cam belt and tensioner replaced
New door outer seals
new B pillar trims
William kick plate sill trims replaced (OEM items, a small fortune!)
Oil and filter change
New fuel filter
Rocker cover gasket replaced
new alternator
Front wheel bearings replaced
OEM Number plates with original dealer details
Brand new windscreen (removed old one at respray to grind out tiny bit of rust on A Pillar)
New gearshift Gaitor
1 new Rear quarter bump strip
New Sony single CD Player
Parcel shelf includes very rare suit carrier
Door speakers upgraded to Pioneers
New clutch cable

Bad Bits

Dent on roof near sunroof (I recon a good dent man could remove)
Drivers door card cracked
Headlight pneumatic adjustment not working (common on 3's I am told) (found to be a melted pipe from the welding repairs!!!)
The Respray it had was a poor job, there is lacquer runs and over spray all over it

Pics of the rust i found here http://williamsclio.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?44966-Williams-3-N808-HGP

Looking for around £2000 ono as the car also comes with a lot of useful spares & brand new never fitted bits listed below

Brand new Renault Clutch cable
Ali Rad (never fitted)
silicone hose set (never fitted)
Header tank (never fitted)
Oil filters - genuine Renault
Standard Exhaust system (only 12-18 months)

As new rear lights

As new front discs

Sorry to hear that you have decided to sell the car Matt.
I do feel sorry for you, its such a shame that you bought a car you though was good only to find out it has been poorly repaired.
Top marks though for making a brave (and probably very sensible) decision and deciding to cut your losses and also for being so honest in your description of the car.

Cheers Phil

If id of known about the rust from the start/purchase id of been happier but i was led to believe it was all sorted.

Ive taken a quick video, cold starting and a quick visual of the car including some of the lacquer runs on the boot

Gutted for you pal.

I'd personally sell the car on ebay the with your honest description and a reserve of £2000.

Sell the rest of the bits either on here or on eBay to help recoup your losses.

It's still a good repairable car and at £2k, a great restoration base for the right person IMO.

Easily repairable mate my w2 was the same in those areas, but the question is how far does the rust travel :(
