Yeah I did see this also well over my budget and valued a bit to high in my opinion

Also 197bhp from 'chipped' engine with air filter and exhaust??

if its as clean as it says.. then the price isn't too bad I don't think..

there is another Williams on this site.. half the monies of the above exmple..

Retarded adverts like that really piss me off, if your pics don't show how clean it is, take lots of pics that do show that you fcuking cretin!!! :gun:

Then there's the 197bhp bollocks  the amount of work & money involved to get anywhere near that figure is so big, anyone with sense trying to sell it will be shouting & screaming about it listing everything done to get there

Would be worth the money on that mileage if it's as described... it should be on all original paint, but I agree with 16V_paddy..... that ad set off massive alarm bells with me.

If it's in Harlow that's not far from me....:)

Hey my mk 1 was 150 bhp but after a few tweaks and some money later tested on rolling road to be putting 215 out

Well as I'm not into the power game I will leave others to comment on that, but it was not just the power claims that concerned me. I would be pleasantly surprised if it was in a condition to justify the price tag... but you never know until you go and have a look.

As I stated in my previous post, worth the money if it's in the condition stated. Also he does say to contact him if you require further pics etc, but I find it helpful if more info is placed in the ad... like no. of owners etc etc.

Cheers Ian

Hello, just my points but. only the mk1 with brass number plaque, are williams. mine is a 93 plate with 30,000 ish miles and bought for a lot less than that mk2 clio is asking for.

Mmmm... sounds tres interesting, how about some pics and info... maybe post it in the register.

I agree that the Williams is the one to have but since you bought yours in 2009 ( I'm guessing) values for the best cars whether a Williams, a 2 or a 3 have increased.

Cheers Ian:)

I have spent £3000 on forged pistons and cams to get 190hp. Suggest you ask that rolling road to check there calibrations as I have never seen +200hp f7r without at least a dirty blower!

Plenty of folks running 210+bhp from n/a f7r's & have been for many years, some even as high as 240 and not forgetting the works rally cars ran close to 270/280 and the touring car spec f7r's were 300 on race fuel, all naturally aspirated. Can even get ones on standard inlet up to 186 with headwork, the right cams and injectors :winkey:

Forged pistons are around the £600 mark & cams with verniers are roughly the same, so what's the rest of the £3k been spent on?

Fair enough. That's me told then. But I argue a chip won't make 200+

My 3000 went on
Forged pistons, con rods, cat cams, verniers, belt kit, induction kit, stainless system, head work, water pump, inlet and exhaust valves and various other bits while it was stripped down. Soon adds up.

Oh of course, the chip thing is a load of bollocks  I mis-read what you'd put & thought you was running with a turbo to get 190 bhp

What catcams have you got? I've got 213's -pretty lairy buggers, too wild to run on std ecu afaik - but the big jump in power is the itb's, those & the aftermarket management is what makes the difference.
I've got cliolords old bottom end which was making 220bhp but I'm using different cams and a megane head so hoping to improve on that figure once it's put together 8)

Sounds like a lot of work. I put mine together about 4 years ago now. Went for 225's because I didn't want to deviate from a stock engine bay. Not had any ecu work done yet. Really should get it sorted but It hardly ever leaves the garage and I don't trust anyone to do it right.

Did you have to make clearance in the head casting to run the 213's?

Nope, just slap them in, the hard part is dialling them in correctly - no idea how you do that though  so paying someone to do that bit for me

If you have the engine out its not to hard. Has no one done a guide on the forum? And remember to put the flat bolts on the pulleys and not the hex bolts, otherwise when you put the timing cover on it won't turn over. Doh!!

16v_paddy
24-03-2014, 02:10
A guide is a bit pointless as it's really an individual thing to each engine, mine has had the block decked, head skimmed plus the crown height of my pistons needs to be taken into consideration.
The other thing to consider is where you make gains with a particular setup of the timing you lose something elsewhere, I've also got adjustable trumpets on the itb's so there's loads of stuff that's all interconnected - Danny @519 Automotive is doing all of that complicated shit on mine when he's doing the mapping so all I've got to be bothered about is learning to drive the bloody thing as it's going to be a big jump up from what I'm used to

Hi I'm going to be selling my Williams 2 very soon if you are interested. The car has only 80,000 miles on the clock, full service history (mostly Renault), every MOT from new and all receipts for work, recent clutch and radiator fitted. Mechanically absolutely rock solid with everything working as it should. Bodywork just needs a bit of a tidy up but nothing major. When finished the car would be as good as the car advertised here for £6,500 but with better heritage (all old receipts etc). Send me a message if keen and we can talk price.

No offence taking and sorry if it sounded like I had a problem, it just read to me like you were interested in a car on this thread I started, if you were then that's not a problem but at least just send the seller a pm and keep it private
