Exhaust Help Needed [Archive]

Hi,
Struggling a bit with exhausts........ I'm looking for a new front to back stainless system for the Cup Racer, and after advice was looking at Mongoose and Magnex. I tracked down the best price on-line and ordered through Camskills. I've just had a call from them to say that they have just spoken to Mongoose, and they don't have any in stock, have no plans to make any, and claim not to have sold one for years.... Camskill also tell me that Magnex have gone bust, and just before that happened, Magnex, Blue Flame and Mongoose exhausts were all made by the same company ie. were essentially identical !!!!

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who may have a Mongoose system in stock, or can suggest a decent alternative ? I'd rather not have to go for a full custom-built system, but may have to go that way ..........

Hi Jamie, I.just bought a cat back system from larkspeed 1 month ago. Was at my door in 2 days. It was a moongoose system. 3.5 tail. Top service.

Great, thanks I'll try them tomorrow. The Mongoose systems are listed on loads of different websites, but it's impossible to tell if they actually have stock. I guess I'm just going to have to get on the phone ......... Let's hope you didn't get the last one !

Blueflame, Magnex and Mongoose now all owned and manufactured by the same people - Collins Performance Engineering in Congleton. They don't have any stock and nor does anyone in internet-land......... Have spent all morning on the phone........

And they kindly sent me a free De cat pipe as I asked for the cat back system and when I opened it I was like a dog with 2 d**ks

Yes, still an option, but quite a lot more expensive and 5-6 week lead time.......

Have you got a standard exhaust? I'm after one to replace my janspeed as im stripping the car of assets now... and its too noisy for daily use.

Jamie - Blueflame do custom exhausts.....take your car tell them what u want and its done collect later that day.

Why are you after a off the shelf one ? Dont you want one as free flowing as possible as close to the noise limit as you can???

Just down to cost and hassle. The car is not road legal, so needs trailering anywhere, which just makes the whole exercise that much more of a ball ache. We are at the limit for our class in power to weight, so I'm not really looking for more power, just a decent quality system to replace a rather patched up system on the car. Not bothered about noise either ........

Anyway I've gone ahead and bought the 2nd hand system off eBay, so let's hope it's in decent shape........

No, pretty sure it's not standard, but I have no idea what it is. It's been repeatedly patched and is blowing at the minute, so you wouldn't want it anyway ! I would have been interested in your Janspeed system, but it's about 5 mins too late as I've just bought the 2nd hand Mongoose system off eBay !

Andy, as I suspected, although it says 2 available, in fact they have none available. They order from the manufacturer in just the same way as everyone else. The only people who seem to carry them as stock are Larkspeed (and possibly Demon Tweeks, but £££££££), and they sold their last one only last week........
Anyway all sorted now !

Thanks Mat, you could have saved me a load of hassle if you'd piped-up before Christmas, but now all sorted - 2nd hand system bought off eBay for £70 ! Currently with Bass - awaiting shipping to my spanner-man. Would you happen to have a decat pipe if mine is shot ?
