My current tyres (Avon ZV3's) on the front are just about finished. Can somebody suggest a replacement? The Avons seem OK for grip, but i'm wondering if I can get something better. I've seen Goodyear Eagle F1s or
Continetal Premium Contacts that seem OK.
They are currently 195/50R15. Would it be of benifit to go to 205/45R15 or is there no point?

eaGle f1's the the nut's
yeah mytyres.com cheep for those goodyears and they grip well, but they are soft tyres so dont last very long
I'd go with Contis I love them on the Williams F1's seem excellent as well but there quite and I like the squeeling noise from contis on the limit.

I heard that Toyos were the best in the wet but last about 10 minutes.

Go for the eagles imo but teh michelin pe2 are meant to be equal to them.
I've got Eagle F1's on mine and I can't fault them at all, seem particuarly good in the wet.
The F1 are great in wet, even in the slipery roads of Greece.
Quite satisfactory in dry as well, secialy if you really warm them up.
On the other hand it's a tire designed almost 4 years ago :?

And the Clio was designed almost 15 years ago :P
Just swapped my good old F1-GSD2s (pre-silica compound) for Kumho SPT KU31. Too early to tell, as I am still bedding them in.
IMHO, the sharpness of the D2s and the forgiving handling of the Clio is a match made in car heaven. On super hot tarmac, it's like glue and in monsoon-drenched roads it is unbeatable. It's only weakness was on slightly damp roads, with the lack of silica, I was sliding like a greased pig on roller skates. Would have gone for the D3s, if they were available here. Let's see how the KU31s fair.

Good point :!:
But still the Clio has designed and made by french not americans
