View Full Version : 1.8 16v or Williams T25/T28 turbo downpipe
Hi,
I've got this up on eBay in case anybody is interested:

Thanks,
Paul.
I bought this.was it made by bb tuning or is it a home made job? it doesn't fit I'm going to have to cut it and maybe put a flexi joint in as to get it on I've had to disconnect the bottom engine mount and push the engine foward 2 inches and it's still up against the steering rack.
Sorry only just seen your reply, it was a BB tuning one, I'm well shocked to hear you've had difficulties with it
Which turbo are you running?
Garrett t28 with the 5 bolt turbine housing to suit the downpipe.i was well pissed off when I discovered it wasn't right.when I seen it on ebay I thought happy days I won't have to make something up to fit.
Sorry mate I really don't what to say. I bought it from b&b way back in 2004 and paid top dollar for it.
Never tried it on the car, only just got a turbo on there a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have any reason to think it wouldn't go straight on.
Coops is this the downpipe that you are running?
I've been waiting seven weeks for a ktec one to made up and delivered, only went for that because I wanted a flexi seeing how much the engine jumps around.
I'll just have to work with it to make it fit.
mine is a BB solid pipe like that, looks similar and think mine is a 2004 vintage iirc. fits fine even with the wider RS spec GT28 I have with the bigger dual ball bearing core
Wonder why mine won't fine then
to be two inches out there's something seriously wrong
I'm gona heat it near the turbo and pull it toward the front of the car.
How strange?! Do you have any pics mate I'm well curious why you are having these problems
I can take some but won't be for a day or 2

Get some pics of your setup, seems strange
I will mate it's just i haven't had the chance to get to it to take pictures.its the bb tuning log manifold and the turbo exhaust housing is from a nissan 200sx t28 turbo.

It should fit with that setup. Will await pics tho
as above, that's pretty standard setup and to be out by 2 inches is fappin miles so somethings amiss
What could be wrong? It's a mark 1 Clio with all mk1 bits.everything screws onto the car no problem until I went to fit this downpipe.

this is with the dongbone disconected and ive also pressed the pipe in abit and cut the edge off the steering rack housing but the dogbone mount is still an inch away from lining up.the flange on the turbo side isnt right either ive had to drill out the bolt holes and the top right hand hole is half a hole out of line.

Strange question but are you running a 172 gearbox?
Not a strange question at all, it's a 1.9 diesel box.maybe that's the problem?

Which year and car is the box from? Reason I ask when people fit the 172 boxes and use the wrong mount for them, the dogbone will be 1 inch out.
I'm not sure as I bought the box 5 years ago but I would say its 1994 or 1995.the bottom bell housing is designed for a support bracket that bolts to the sump on the Diesel engine.
could well be that then tbh
the reason the flange is wrong is its probably for the older stud pattern, I had my new turbo modified to fit the older pattern on the downpipe
I was looking through old threads from 08 were some fellas had a problem with the downpipe fitment.

Do you find that one of the 5 holes is a bit out? If so, you'll need to drill the down pipe or get the turbo sent away like I had to.
Yes one is half a hole out.i drilled the holes bigger but made no difference it's still a mile away.its nothing to do with the gear box because as it is with the dogbone not connected the inlet manifold is sitting way to high above the slam panel at the front of the car.
tbh it sounds like chop and reweld then, still got no idea why this would be the case. but we're just going round in circles trying to diagnose at a distance
I agree there coops,it's not like I've made this conversion up myself.all parts are mk1 Clio so it's difenitly that the pipe is made wrong and that's it.
