In most cases yes in others no.
Depends how the metal is formed, a pressure powder cast could be weaker in places than an A.B.S / polycarbonate formed unit.

The plastic ones are off the Megane F7R.

True Micheal......but reno must have fitted them to late spec F7P's
The K-reg I spoke about has a late spec F7P engine fitted
Yep, plastic is late spec and is shared across a lot of engines...the K7M i had was plastic and apparently a 16v/williams item too.
IMO the plastic rail is a better design as the regulator is held on with a clip instead of 2 bolts. Get a bit careless/let a div mechanic loose on the metal item and you can end up with the bolt threads breaking if someone overtightens...not good considering the pressure running through it.

The later type plastic fuel rail has a different take of for the cold start injector. The ally rail has a banjo bolt on the csi where as the csi to the plastic rail is to a "T" piece which clips to the rail. The feed and return to the ally rail are held with jubille clips where as the feed and return on the plastic rail are a push fit moulded union.
