Looking for someone to work on my Mk1 Williams Clio. Needs a new clutch so might as well do the cam belt, water pump etc at the same time.

Been quoted silly prices by 3 garages now, cheapest was just under a grand.

I'm in North London, near Enfield. If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers
Ben

Sounds like the north/south divide there.

I got all my seals and gaskets done (and engine taken out), clutch replaced, cambelt, tensioners and waterpump done on my W3 for £350. That's near Newcastle.

However the Williams isn't my daily and he did do it in his downtime to keep costs down. He only had it a few weeks.

£1k is a pisstake!

I'd take it to any of the following:
RSTuning - Leeds
BTM - Birmingham
Renault - yes Renault, they are doing cambelt changes for £399 at the moment as a fixed price deal!

I'd not take it to the following:
TDF
K-tec

Wow, £350 for everything was a bargain! Got another quote just now for £1410!! They reckon 14 hours at 60 per hour plus parts plus vat.

I'll have a word with Renault I think and see what they can do, thanks for the tip.

I'd say 10 hours labour is a reasonable amount, 3- 4 hours each way to remove the engine, couple of hours at most to fit all the new bits. Try 519 automotive in bedford, no idea how much he'd charge but if doing clutch and cambelt on these cars it's easiest to just whip the engine out

I'd do it for £200 plus parts, over a weekend if your stuck?
Plus you'd have to get it to Leicester!

You've got enough to do! Lol
