Well lads...

My HG is leaking out of the back of the block(I'm 90% sure :) )

So rang renault and they wanted...
€181.16 for 10 head bolts! and
€166.98 for a head gasket set :(

Just wondering what do ye think of these?
(I found the link on here!)

Gasket set (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/130282985742?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
Head bolt set (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/310117430321?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
(I'm waithing for a reply for the make of them)

Or would I be better off going to K-tec?
K-tec gasket set (http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=191&appid=1)
K-tec head bolts (http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=193&appid=1)

If the ebay ones are no good I'm thinking of just getting....
Bare head gasket (http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=192&appid=1) and bolts from K-tec and see will they sell the valve stem oil seals, cam oil seals.
(and get ptfe gaskets.....cam gaskets are €42 over here...)

Thanks :)

The ebay ones are "glaser" I read to avoid these....

I'll give K-tec a ring in the morning so.

 that's ****ing scandalous!

That ebay head bolt set will be fine and is in the correct sort of price range you should be paying, as for the gasket itself I'd suggest finding out exactly who it's made by, if any of them are made by BGA, don't bother.

I can easily sort you out with ptfe gaskets but tbh if I were you I'd just get a full head gasket set as it will come with the stem seals, exhaust gasket & cam seals and you'd be a bit silly not replacing them if you've got the head off

EDIT: Not heard of glaser tbh, all I know is to avoid bga like the plague. Payen gaskets are probably 1 of the best from my experience & what I've read elsewhere

Not worth the risk getting glaser....

Ya I know what you mean getting the full gasket set...
But I'd just find it a waste if I was getting ptfe anyway...you know!!

I'll ring some mothor factors tomorrow and see what brands do they have(hopefully mellior, paynen or reinz)
I'll report back tomorrow!

My pony ain't smokey but I'll still replace the stem seals etc.

I sent you a pm about the ptfe's Paddy!!

I used the ebay gasket set in my turbo f7r, 2 days and it was gone. However that was due to bad tuning, it was knocking like mad!
So i reckon the gasket would be sufficient enough on a well tuned or standard engine.

Now have a victor reinz one as i could get it cheap...
Oe renault is Goetze, not very popular or known to me

Rang around today anyway.....

FAI hg only €25,
FAI hg set €144ish
Elring hg only €115
Ktec gasket set €155

With ktec being that price I say I'll just get renaults(€166) as I must get oil/coolant etc there anyway!

I've a "wanted" ad up now so I'll that see before I order one :)
I'm gonna get the ebay/K-tec bolts though!

Thanks for the info man!
I'd say I would chance the ebay one if I was doing the hg myself but I've a friend(renault mechanic) doing it.

Goetze huh? At one time the oe gasket set was mellior!!

If I was getting the ebay bolts would I need to order sealant?
Do renault sell it?

Yes it was Goetze about a half year ago, never heard of it before...

Why would you need sealant for the bolts?

That's not sealant, it's basically copper slip grease :winkey:
