View Full Version : Tuned Williams vs clio V6
Who would win on?
Track
Twisty road
Drag race
Drag the V6.
Assuming a good driver the Williams would win on the track IMO. Some people wouldn't push a V6 to the limits due to its handling so it might be even slower (hence why you'd need a good driver who could push it to make it a fair test).
is this in relation to the stig on top gear??? didnt the v6 spin like a bitch????
saying that, dont the v6's 1/4 in the 15's ?
The williams will win all round
standard V6 QTR is about 14.6 & top end about 145mph
There shit on a track btw
Ive had 2 V6's and there w*nk
Depends.
How tuned would the Williams be? Would it be completely stripped out or running all trim? Would it be a P1 or P2 V6. Who would be driving both cars (the same pro driver in each, or inexperienced driver in each, or the owner of each vehicle driving)? It would also depend on which track and how long the sprint would be (obvious being 1/4 mile) as well.
Either way, I wouldn't like to say :P . It's certainly not as easy as saying one or the other is 'wank' or 'shit'.
im with matt on this one.....vee would have the launch on the strip....but the willy would catch and pass it soon after
willy on the track...it jus handles so much better
willy on th eb roads....the terrain the williams was built for..nuff sed

LOL,
My standard williams must be both broken then, if anyone claims they can stay with a V6 255.
They're talking about a tuned Williams mate. Though how tuned we don't know yet...

Well 0200 has a magenx on it and it would still get an ass raping from a 255 V6.
lol more tuned than just a magnex mate!
14.7 v6
my williams 14.9 (only got a decat )
not much in that

Redo that quater mile on a normal road and i suggest your time would go up a fair amount, and the V6 time would go up a bit but not alot.
Quater mile strips have ALOT of rubber on the start area, that negates some of the traction problems experienced by FWD cars and gives them better times than they would normally get.
If you think your car will REALLY do a 14.9 quater mile, i would love to find a piece of non rubberised road and time you with electronic equipment and show you that youll be heading for 16 seconds ish, but i dont want to shatter your illusion.
Where's this V6 quarter mile time coming from? If it's the book or a magazine figure, then it'll be done on a test facility that won't be as grippy as a quarter mile. It usually means the car has a full tank of fuel and two people.
I've got to say Andy, your Williams isn't the norm and I doubt very much a completely standard Williams would be able to get under 15 seconds.
Anyway, the norm for a cam'd Williams seems to be low 14s, which would beat the V6. So that's round one to the Williams. A standard Williams wouldn't have a chance though.
iv seen V6's run at pod and york, and best iv ever seen was high 14's, most ran low 15's!
tuned williams, such as banana, 2 lives, etc 14.0@99 would spank a V6! power to weight around 20/ton more!

This arguments doesnt really have a limit though as a Clio Maxi (technically a tuned Williams) would bladder most cars on a track LOL
yeah how tuned are we talking, as Craig's car Vs a V6 would be a tad one sided!
Having said that I have seen V6's at York and they were shit slow for what I expected. I'd be confident I could pass one fairly easily on the road in current state of tune.
in my V6 i ran a 14.4 standard
With NOS i ran a 13.6
Mehdi in his tuned willy hybrid did a 13.4 !!! without Nos
V6 clio's are are not fast - they weigh about 1350kg and the power to weight ratio equals a williams are a 172 cup. For £26k i can think of 20 better cars to buy.
Saying that though the birdies love the V6 and ive never had a car which attracts so much attention - one of the reasons i sold the car was i hate being stared at by joe public at the lights, hence the sleeper

The problem is the modifications. How many mods would it take to make it quicker than a V6? Its not really a fair comparison
I would personally have said the V6 255 would win on both the track and the 1/4 mile if you compared standard for standard. On a bumpy, twisty back-road their are very few cars that can touch a standard Williams period.
It would undoubtedly take a good driver to get the best of the V6, but stick pro's in both cars and I have no doubt the V6 would be the victor on almost any race track. Incidentally the brother-in-law has got a 255 V6 and its a very well sorted motor IMO.
This question came up.....as my mates said a V6 would eat mine:P
Say stripped and cammed........ a low 14's Williams/hybrid
Anyone know if any standard 255 V6's have cracked a 13 1/4mile?
