Hi

Does anyone know a decent wheel refurbers on the South Coast? I want to keep my wheels original (polished rims) but the wheel specialist round here want £120 per wheel without polishing - they say its impossible to polish (I don't think they want to do it!) all they want to do paint the rim silver and middles gold.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks

Ben

Milton Keynes.

There's a couple of people on here who have used them so they can give you more accurate prices but £90 a wheel comes to mind.

Hi guys

I have spoken to pristine but they want £360 + vat plus £18 per wheel to remove tyres and re-fit, balance etc!! That akes over £520!!!

The other issue she is a daily driver and I can't really be off the road for a week. I was thinking of either having them done one at a time (or done elsewhere!). My question is can I just fit a set of ratty 1.2 steelies from a scrapper whilst they are being done? If anyone has any suggestions that would be handy.

Matt - I notice you have a couple of sets are they already done or am I better going down the refurb route and use some steelies?

thanks

Ben

Most of mine need doing.
If getting steelies make sure they fit over your brakes.

Pristine are very good. Due to idiot tyre changers and a recent twat with an impact gun (carelessly chipped the bolt hole edges and removed the coating in each bolt hole on one wheel), I may get my spare set refurbed by them.

Ben

that's taking the piss surely?

Just get them painted without the rim and do the rim yourself. So long as the color is matched as close as possible to the original thats whats most important. And you don't want them painting the rim either. Just lacquer it up.
Nobody not even Pristine can redo the original rim and I'll give anyone £100 who can prove otherwise.

Get your money out Fab, there are quite a few places that can do the machined finish on the lips, differences that could be noticed are the width of the lines.

hmm i got quoted £79.00 + VAT per wheel which works out £316.00 + £63.20 VAT = £379.20 which includes collection/delivery from essex, they never mentioned anything about no tyres on the rims???

That's about what I paid, plus a bit more to redo a tiny buckle or something I think.

Finally bitten the bullet. Wheels in at the Wheel Specialist in Fareham. Pristine too dear and tbh didn't sound as though could be arsed when I rang this morning. They MAY do a good job but come across as a right bunch of morons. Will post pics when done. Ben

Pristine do not refurbish the wheels correctly. There should be gold paint on both sides of the cut lip, which there isnt on the pristine wheels. For that price i would expect them to make a decent job of it.
