I'm interested in buying one car which is fitted with GEMS ECU. There's no cable or software for mapping included in the sale.

I checked on GEMS website and software needs some kind of license dongle.

My question is if GEMS ECU (more specifically EM20 ECU) can be mapped by anyone or you have to buy expensive (I don't know what the price is) license and cable to do it?

I'll do a bit of digging, but i think you can access that ecu with omex or AEM software

infact, it seems you can just download GWV3 (which is the base version of the software the others adapt) from the GEMS website

just downloaded it and it needs the dongle. I have this, and a number of other places will too. I think it's about £50 for a single ECU dongle licence

Ahhh, £50 is ok. I thought it would be something silly, like £500 or something. :D

This means that cable probably costs £450.

Thanks for the info! But since I'm not familiar with them, are these ECU's ok?

Never used one, I'd expect it's very much like an OMEX 600

I was just quoted £504 for cable and software dongle from GEMS.

Can anyone help (know of a used one for sale or maybe even lend it for a few days)?

Oh and that's without delivery!
