few bits need doing, but its no too bad. doesnt feel to be as playful as the williams yet. better over bumpy surfaces, but id say thats about it for + points so far.
looks as crap as mine does, mk2 fail

This place is just filling up with lightweight homosexuals lacking in testicular fortitude to run a Mk1  :flag:
Indeed!
I just decided that I had better and more important things to spend money on - like oooo houses and weddings.
172's do 90% of what a good willy does with 10% of the effort.
And yes i'm waiting for the die hard anals to shoot me down already.

Houses is an acceptable excuse but weddings?!?! That's just plain fookin mental
I'll stick with my valver thanks very much :P I actually considered buying a trophy a couple of years ago but decided it wasn't good enough & not worth all the extra money it'd cost over my valver

I'm just waiting for Uncle bob to show up..
Keep it between the ditch's john.
leave mk1 ownership??? why the fuk would i wanna do that?? lol. i need summat to drive quick ;).
as for buying it, well, it was too good an offer to turn down really, got it cheap really. altho the last owner i think now has the better car ;)
driving....... managed to get it sideways earlier on an r/a, felt nice n easily controlled. the brakes arent as good as the willys, new pads should sort that. it isnt as quick as the willy.......yet ;). i dont think it handles anywhere near as good as the willy yet either, but it has piss poor tyres on and needs the dampers refurbing. the only + point i have found is that its better over bumpy surfaces than the coiled willy, just foesnt feel as much fun. hoping the tyres n dampers will sort that tho.
and fab.....i havent hit a ditch yet.....runs to touch wood...... but as youve been made aware, i cant drive for toffee, eh rob??, so il be trying not to bin it . ;)
The brakes are ****ing epic on mine.
I've found with mine I don't find it quite as fun but I drive it more, and drive it A LOT faster than I did the willy.
My H&R's transformed mine, never driven a Trophy but it would have to be something special to coax me out of this.
Still not driven a clio thats fast enough for me though!
That'll change next year

maybe its the fact the clique iness has crept in just like cs. so may as well go the whole hog ;)

the brakes have good feel. but it just doesnt wanna stop lol. id say braking distance is almost double that of the willy at mo. not exactly confidence inspiring. and im nowhere near up to the speed of the willy. but then again, 11 years driving that and 2 days for the trophy, im bound to feel a bit more at home/confidant in the willy. lol.
and....22-25mpg.....thats nearly as bad as the willy runnin cams n bodies ffs.
Mine returns 25mpg in traffic jam conditions, i.e. average speed of 10mph and 34mpg on runs. Compared to both my Williams' this is about 2mpg less, so if you're really struggling I'd check the usual, lamda sensor etc.
Brakes, that's one of the single biggest improvements on both my RS's to both Williams' - I think Daz seems to agree to, sounds like something could be wrong. There isn't any normal faults with the brakes - so have a look.
I while ago I lost gas in one of my dampers after swerving to miss someone who pulled into my line on the motorway and hitting a small kerb. Really, really annoyed - but the difference with fully refrubed dampers is quite alot. It's just £500 from BG Motorsport, you may find it cheaper elsewhere. Have a look on CT, alot of people even on low mile examples have found the refurb well worth while and makes a big difference on non-tracker, low mile cars. Must just wear with age.
I know you said you got it cheap (Maybe for a reason), but, it sounds like you may have bought something that needs alot of money being spent. In your classic words, "have you bought a nail"?
Do think the Williams feels more special though.
25mpg???? thats scandelous! i get 38 out the 172 and managed 53 on a run and even cranked 63mpg hypermiling down the A1 for a few hours!lol! ;-)
although i spose if i drove it harder probs get less out of it, as above tho really, i dont find it anywhere near as engaging as a mk1, although i've yet to drive a trophy or cup version of the mk2, only ever driven full fats of both 172 phases and 182. i find the power delivery a bit pants as well, you don't half have to rev the bugger to get it shifting compared to the F7R lump.
lol @ nail. bodywork and interior mint, has the usual fault on seat sliders, needs pads, belts, and shock refurb. and a set of decent tyres. all of which are faults on most trophies looking into it. has a few minor mods, eng management lights on cos of decat n 2nd lambda.
as special as the williams?? not a patch tbh. feels pretty much like any other 1#2 iv driven tbh. seats are comfier than std 1#2s iv been in. driving position does actually feel better tho which is a good thing. std rear bench is awful, thankfully mine has 1/2 leather already. altho the dials/gauges dont keep you updated as to whats goin on under the bonnet. and comin to the engine.....again, its not a patch on the f7 imho. low down torque is non existant, needs the pedal pushing thru the floor to start making things exciting.
as for mpg. think i need a pair of lighter shoes ;)

Agree with almost all of that! Only thing I prefer, which alot of people won't - is the engine. I prefer the 182 engine - didn't at first, but I find it very smooth and enjoy the way it drives and revs.
Seating position is utter pisch though.

and i still have the williams for fun times
I miss the attention of being in the willy.
Apart from that I'm more than happy.
very nice - so is adi now the proud owner of a williams ?
sounds like u got a good deal then.
When you going to pod then ?
yeah i did really. and im not lol. its not quick yet.
unless the deal was to help him get that VW engine in his pink one ?
i offered to help him do that anyway lol. its not ready for hoing in yet tho.
I never thought I would see the day
times are hard mate...and the willys are errr.....undergoing work. ;)
could be a while yet, so thought id try the next best thing see if they live up to the hype....which so far.......it doesnt.

ah you've got the blue blood in you man. never gonna get that out of your soul.
thats not you in the car then?
They're clearly red. If that's pink it's because it's really dirty or the paint is ****ed.

rides soo much better on the 15s. does need lowering tho still. turn in feels sharper, comfier over the bumps, feels a lot more direct so far.
Only reason I don't like those 2118s is unless slammed, they look like fruit pastels for wheels being so small.
looks nice, I sold the willams and went 182... but to be fair both good cars and fun to drive, i can't compaire the williams with the 182 though as they are totally different spec.
yeah i know what you mean jamie.... they are nowhere near filling teh arches...but then, even on the std turinis they look like they are on stilts. once iv decided which way im goin with the suspension, it should look a lot better.
and allan, yeah they are completely diff cars to drive, the trophy has the edge on the williams on the bumpy roads, but the characteristics of the willy still brings it out on top so far imho.
Suprised u can remember what the Williams drives like now yours is off the road. U will be more used to that mk2 than u think!!!
I do like those wheels. Where did u get the exaltos from? They are obsoleted now at Costco
I have access to more than just 0159 ;-). Lol. I got the tyres online
