Just bought a 1995 16v clio with a williams engine conversion (supposedly), its running really lumpy under load at low revs, misfires etc, until 2000rpm then its fine, i looked at the ecu code numbers and its the original 1.8 16v ecu, is this the problem, if so anyone have an ecu for a williams engine

i dont know about ECU's. BUT sounds like you need a new MAP sensor. unless the map is wrong i.e. f7p.

Oen ECU and check the EPROM. see if it's been soldered in.

valver ecu should run a williams engine

Agreed, it will lean out and lose a bit of power, but should still seem fundamentally ok and drive about cleanly etc.

so far i have changed the map sensor, idle control valve, throttle potentiometer but nothing has changed, any other ideas? would a faulty lambda sensor cause this?
