Hi,

In order to fully present my situation:) :

I have a R19 with F7P.
The engine was swaped last year, the original one was a good old F3N therefore:

1) my bonnet does not have the air inlet thingy
2) I don't have any heat insulation in the engine bay (mainly starter motor and scuttle panel (?) - the wall between engine/passenger compartment)

Sooooo I came up with idea to wrap the manifold using heat wrap BUT I have stock valver manifold - not williams pipe, megane pipe or other.

Is it possible? did anyone wrap standard/stock valver manifold?

Thanks for your help:)

You can heat wrap them but they are simply not as tidy as a Willy manifold due to design.

You could look at fabricating a heatshield or even make a mount on the bulkhead for an OEM heatshield.

Not really worth it on a cast manifold.

Better off running a shield on the starter.
if you use a williams starter you have more room around it to be able to fit a shielf.

I'm using starter from my old engine which is a planetary (?) one?

spins differently than the original valver starter (which by the way sound like sh***t)

And- I do not have had any problems with overheating of it or whatsoever.

However, the temperature inside engine bay is like hell-> unfortunately most of the time I drive in the city/traffic etc -> even my heatshield on the air filter does not cope with that... :(

I suppose that I should not expect any performance change if the manifold is wrapped?

Or should I search for the F7R megane manifold, then wrap it?

1: Not all R19 16v have the air inlet "thingy"

As far as I know, only early '90 ph1 for short time did not have the air inlet.

After that -> every 16v should have the air inlet - if it does not than probably either the engine or the bonnet has been changed :)

as far as i know in sweden only PhII has the air inlet.

Very very interesting things you're saying :)
I know that Sweden had some special equipment, not available in other countries (like headlight washers)-

It's Renault. You never, NEVER can be sure :P

dont need an airvent ,just keep your airfilter in a box unless
you are running scuttle induction like me .

My renault 9 has been running F7P/R for the last 6 years
with no airvent or heating problems .

Google "Uncle Schakal Renault 9 beast" for details
