Was just wondering what the preferences are on a replacement head gasket seeing as mines gone for the second time in 14 months Cheers cav
Goetze
Avoid anything from BGA like its the plague.
I have used the mellior gasket that K-tec sell for £30 it seems of very good quality or go direct to renault and get OE. As Chip has already said keep away from the BGA and Goetze crap as you will be better of using a cereal box
Goetze arent crap, they are top quality!
Its just the BGA stuff I was saying to avoid, Goetze is what I am suggesting to use.

What about cometic gaskets ?
Cometic gaskets are great, but make sure BOTH surfaces are very flat first IME
So I only tend to use them when I have had the block faced as well as the head.

I've had the head skimmed but the blocks still in the car and I didn't fancy taking it out can I do anything with the block in situe
you could check it with a straight edge, but if its not flat then you are stuck and I wouldnt use a cometic if there is any risk of that, use a goetze one its a lot more forgiving.

Do you have any idea where I can get a goetze one from can't seem to find anybody
I buy mine from Steve Milton
He deals in a lot of decent quality engine parts, I use him mainly for vauxhall and ford parts, but he does renault stuff too, give him a ring and tell him you are after an F7R one like he got for chip and he should be able to help you out: 07973 729171

Thanks for that chip :D
Goetze and Viktor Reinz.
Avoid anything else, especially Ajusa, Elring and other crap.

agreed on goetze and viktor reinz, but a lot of the elring stuff is actually ok as thats the head gaskets you often find in elring sets anyway
Elring is a good brand, OE quality, but I don't suggest it to use on Renault sport models, especially F7R/P that are running really hot.
I had Elring before on my GTT's, and on 16S and they didn't live long :(

What's peoples thoughts on genuine head gaskets finding it had to get goetze or reinz
I expect the original one is a goetze or reinz TBH, dont know for certain though.
