Is there any way i can get oil temperature from an F7R 714 block by using a factory sensor from an F7P/F7R 700?

In the following photo, the left sensor is from the 714 engine and the right one from a F7P.
The difference is both in total length and pattern. :?

I think not. I have the same problem. I would also like to use my old sensor, but the way things look, I'll have to fork out that silly amount of money Renault charges for this sensor. :(

If i had the block stripped, with a little machining i would be able to fit the F7P sensor but i don't,so machining is impossible... :?

All Megane's had only oil pressure or some of them had oil temperature so with slight modifications we might make the Megane sensor work with the F7P loom? :?:

Meg sensor has 2 pins,Clio sensor has 3.
If i am not wrong, one pin should be ground, one for oil level and one for temperature.
If there is a Megane sensor for temperature, tnen i think it would be easy to connect the right pins and make the temperature dial work. :|

Hmmm, I never thought that sensors are not equivalent. :?

Maybe Sideways Danny can answer this one.

The one on the left is the one I think I had to take off the Meg block as when we swapped my first F7R700 out to the 714, the loom could not accept the 714 sensor. We used my Williams one instead with no trouble.

That 714 sensor was hanging about in my door card pocket for about a year.

I think they are slightly different lengths due to the sump size.

But from the pic threads look different size. How could you use Williams one?

Is there any chance that the 710's use the same thread as the 700's ones?

As for the length, yes, the F7P is a bit longer than the 714 sensor.

I don't know, but I can check.

Maybe there are two thread sizes for the F7R? Summeh talked to me about it a couple of years ago I remember, and the 714 sensor couldnt be used so we used my old 700 one.

As i found out,Meg's didn't have oil temperature, only oil level and pressure so in any case the Meg sensor cannot give temperature signal... :?

I measured both of my blocks (710 and 714) and both have the same thread for the sensor. Obviously there are also casting differences between 714 blocks.
