Poor Criteria I know!

Just for the hell of it (and because the wife said she liked the pictures) I went to look at an Astra H 2.0T Sri the other day. Not a BAD car but devoid of everything I'm looking for!

Had a go in a remapped CDTI astra too that thing was bloody quick! I can understand why people go for fast diesels now the thing was so quick where most of us spend our time, I realise now I want torque!

So erm yeah thats it lol.

I was looking at 5 door megane sports but they're a little out of the 5k price range. I don't want anything slower than the 172 either!

look harder at Megs, you'll EASILY get a 5 door one for 5k

I've seen a couple under or at 5k but private sales. I hate this car that much at the moment I'm prepared to take a hit and trade it in.

You dont mention budget, but of all the Diesels I remap, it would have to be a 330D manual or a 335D Auto for me as the ultimate daily.

Mondeo 2.2 (and hence the jags with the same engine) are also very good once remapped.

The astra's you mention are pretty good too though and are affordable.

French daily's never seems a good idea to me, lol

How about an E39 M5 then? Some of them are now entering that budget level and they are epic cars. If I could only have one car I think it would have to be that, due to reasons of practicality, etc. That said if it is to be a daily-use car then it probably may not be the best choice as their running costs aren't great!

Cheap to buy, but not cheap to run if you start having faults with it. And not exactly DERV levels of economy!

Epic cars though :)

Maybe I'm trying to hard, I'm half tempted to just get something like a focus for 12 months, pass that on to the missus and get something I fancy
