For the crank pulley, (the one you call on flywheel/gearbox) it depends if you have taken this pulley off or not.
if you have not taken this pulley off then all you need to concern yourself with is finding TDC and locking this pulley using the bolt on the front of the engine casing.

You should really have a manual or someone with experience doing timing belts mate. It's piss easy to do when you know how but your playing with fire!

Besides the timing, the proper belt tension is also important. Do not tense it too much because it will damage the oil pump auxiliary shaft bearings.

well you need to take the crankpulley off to see the mark and get the belt off/on

It'll also whine like a beeyatch if it's too tight!

and burn the belt, not the noise & smell of burning rubber you want to have just as you're about to go out on track :P

What I did when fiddling about with it in the paddock at Castle Combe last year

If your doing it by the book Yes that pulley has to come out. I have managed to get a belt on without removing it but it's tight.

Problem is without taking this pulley off it's very difficult to do the center bearing because of that black cover that sits behind the pulleys.
Again by removing the toothed pulley and loosening some screws around the cover by some miracle I did slip a new center bearing in.

Yes, belt tensioning is so very important, big time.
