View Full Version : Scuttle located Induction Kit

Hi

I've been doing some reading (and watching on YouTube), but can't find out all the information in one place, or one forum, so can anyone help please.

From what I can gather there are two ways to do this mod.

1. Straight from the TB to the scuttle with an IK on the end.
2. V6 airbox (or Renault 21 Turbo) then a scoop in the scuttle.

Is there a difference between the two ways? Any gains to be had between the two methods? The only thing that I can think of is that #1 will be louder than #2. (As the filter is right up against the bulkhead).

So, what parts are needed if we look to do #1 (aka HillPower setup)? Well from what I can gather you need...

1. x2 45º silicone pipes plus clips
2. Straight alloy tubing
3. IK
4. TB adapter
5. Washer bottle from a Vauxhaul Nova

The areas where I am struggling is where do you get the TB adapter from? Secondly, is there a part number for the Nova washer bottle? Or do you just go to Vauxhaul parts and say "I want a washer bottle for a Nova?" And finally, what diameter is the pipe/tubing/silicone hoses?

Final, most important question... just how loud will this be?

Thanks! :)

I run the v6 airbox and carbon scoop method.

The renault21 box does not work. The angle on the lid us too great.

Airbox is available from renault £56 iirc
Carbon scoop is available via Mcracing in France (bank transfer) was about £90 I think?
Throttle body adaptor I got off here for £25
Silicone hoses from silicone hoses.com

Looks trick as feck too!

Hill power method is far too boomy during regular driving. Mine isnt that noticeable until you give it the beans! Although obviously there is some vibration!

Car makes a solid 180bhp on cams and remap.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Does the v6 airbox just take a panel filter? Also, sound wise, how does the v6 airbox and scoop compare to just having an open cone direct on the TB (ignoring the HillPower relocating kit)?

I remember that on my old valver it made a lovely noise direct on the TB, in fact, it's the nicest/loudest induction noise I've heard to date. :)

What is the best way you could describe it for someone that has never heard it before? Any pics? :)

So my only problem I guess is, the adapter. I'm guessing any engineering place could knock one up quite easily?

Thanks.

Awesome!

For an enclosed setup, I just don't understand how it sounds sooo nice. 8)

So is that just a panel filter in the V6 airbox? So say you are looking online for an airfilter to fit the airbox, do you just look for any that fit the v6 clio? Does it matter what year?

Thanks for taking the time out to get a video and posting the pics! That's excellent.

Hey all

Are these the correct parts:-

1. V6 Airbox - £58 - http://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1295&category_id=121&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

2. Grp A Carbon Scoop - £70 - http://www.mcracingsa.com/ - Part no MC RE H1 44C

3. Grp A Airbox Adapter - £30 - http://www.mcracingsa.com/ - Part no RE H1 MC 442

4. V6 Panel Filter - £35 - http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2711&catid=5&appid=6&pic=2

Although I am confused how the panel filter fits in a cylindrical airbox. Does it bend? And is the Airbox Adapter correct?

Thanks.

Avoid the Mcracing adapter it's terrible! Dossnt fit! Well it does but not well!
Pm midge for an adaptor!

The airbox I think is correct on RPD but it's not a Clio airbox you want it's an Espace v6 airbox. If you ring RPD they will confirm,

Ah I see, I'll PM midge when the time comes then. ;)

Just to say, I called RPD but they couldn't tell me if the V6 airbox they sell is from an Espace, apparently they need Reg details for both cars to confirm. So can anyone confirm if that is the correct V6 airbox from RPD?

With regards specifically to the Espace airbox mate, which year is it from? There seems to be a few V6 models. A 3.0 V6 diesel, a 3.5 V6 petrol (2002 onwards) and then a V6 from like 1996. (I was looking for panel filters and just couldn't see which one it would be). Any help?

Thanks for your help again btw.

Oh and apparently...

"The paper filter on the V6 box is the same as the Ph1 172 filter."

Again, can anyone confirm?

Looks like it could be right... I'm post whoring at the moment so I do apologies!

K&N E-9131 --- http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=E-9131

Seems to fit the Clio 172 (2001 RENAULT CLIO II 2.0L L4 F/I - w/Round Filter, to 4/01) and the Espace 2.9l V6 (1991 - 1996).

Looks to be the right shape!

i have posted a guide on how to do this and all the parts needed in the guides section ( also on c16v ) .

you are correct about the filter being the same as a 172 one . the airbox is actually from a 2.9 v6 espace. so just order teh 172 filter ( pipercross is what we all run btw ) :D

I saw that you had mate, but, I don't have access here and when I tried the one on c16v, the link took me to a bad "404" page. So I've been a bit stuck, having to figure bits out myself.

Could you share the part no. for the Pipercross filter please? :)

It was your video on YouTube that got me started down this road by the way... I hope you are happy! lol.

Interesting looking top engine mount?

robi1000
08-04-2011, 15:33
That is not a top mount, but a Clio Maxi PAS pump which is bolted directly to the inlet cam pulley.

Gr.A scuttle induction was first used on Gr.A cars which were without ITBs and this system was later adopted for use with ITB plenum. Reason why intake is there is because that area has the biggest pressure difference while still being in a dust free zone. It's essentialy some sort of ram air intake.

@2live: I can't say which make, but I can tell you they were 43mm in diameter and were custom made for the application. They were an integrated design (manifold/bodies were one casting).

Wobba
08-04-2011, 15:38
Interesting looking top engine mount?

Yea, I spotted that. I guess they may have needed different mounts to OE car. I am wondering if the engine has been slightly moved back a bit to accommodate ITB intake?

robi1000
08-04-2011, 15:58
Again, that's not an engine mount. Maxi didn't have that mount, but had something similar to what is called the "5th mount" (from R5 GTX) to support the engine on that side.

V6 Espace filter box pt no - 7700 260 096

Just to let you know, this part number is no longer available   either here in the UK or back~ ordered from France.
My parts manager mate .. who can usually get me any "special" or "trick" bits   ,has contacted France direct ad the answer is NO !!!
So unless a main agent, has got one on the shelf ~~ It looks like a trip to the scrap yards   .
If anyone has one,I could borrow for a couple of weeks ~~ I could evalute whether or not it would be worth getting a batch manufactured out of Alloy etc   If there would be any interest.
