Finally grabbed a proper spin out between rain showers, so went and knocked on for dan and went for some twin turbo action, 1 per car ;-)

Wicked pics, they look stunning
nice pics mate! both cars look awesome!
don't think the people at Storage 2000 in wessington will approve of you using their old fuel pumps tho! lol!
i know the people that own the land, and thats their house u can see. done alot of interior design work for them and painted their kitchen units for them too!
Dunc
p.s. u should pop round see the uno turbo! its coming on mint!
Dunc
ai, lass who works there or something said her boss would probs move us on so we scarpered
altho personally i cant see the problem people have with that kinda stuff, its essentially disused and altho private land we werent doing dirty burnouts or anything were we?! ;-)
you can sweet talk them for me mate!lol!
i'll sling in at the weekend for a nosey at the uno, bout time it rolled, weathers cheering up!
Nice pics Coops. I saw that naples Clio in my rear view mirror one night and he decided to floor it and overtake me so i booted mine but he got past me and i struggled to keep up with him, and i was driving my M3 Evo  Really fast car and pretty cool seeing a Clio that goes like that!
the picture with 1,2 badges is the best ! what is that, the boost pressure ?  the photo-shoot was real nice ! both cars looks great !
What is the setup you guys use and what gearbox?
What is the setup you guys use and what gearbox?
depends on which week you ask this.
Both dan and coops seem to have to fit a different box every other week.
I think this week coops is running a 172 box and Dan a 1.9 diesel clio box. But, as i write this, this may have changed LOL

Gorgeous cars! Engine bay pics!Give us some! :D

And this is why i'm asking it :p i'd like to re-enforce my gearbox so it wont pop!
I think its safe to say they're both not exactly munters!

like i told u before the JC5 works just find. remember that reno boxes are not indistructable though but can handle some abuse!!!!
as dunc mentions, both on jc5's mines a 172 and dans is one from a TDi renault megane scenic, rediculous ratios on it, he went off the clocks in 5th at merely 6000rpm
and yet to find a box that will take the power, but i refuse to pay silly money on a jc5 to be rebuilt in case it pops just as quick so i just acquire cheap boxes and run them for 6 months or so then swap them out :-)
There must be a solution i think.
I refuse to rebuild half the car to fit a vw gearbox...
a fresh rebuilt jc5 may last a while longer, but no idea and not willing to risk half a grand plus to find out!
i had a brand new jb3 in it when i bought it, last owner fitted it, it lasted 6k miles in total and less than 2k after i put it to high boostm that was a 800 item from renault

Which parts of the box can not handle the extra power?
M
I'm also very curious! There is a modification possible for under the 5th to strengthen the bearing housing...
And also one to re-enforce the diff
you name it, all of it!!
so far i've blown diff bearings, input shaft bearings and stripped gears straight off the shafts, ripping the teeth off the gear itself and the lay shaft its meshed too
only thing i've not done is crack the casing, which i'm fairly sure would happen if i 'strengthened' the bearings or put an LSD in

I broke a casing on the way to the shops! And not running anything like these 2! But I bit the bullit and had a willy box rebuilt, will let you know if it survives Shakespeare! (it's still in warranty)
Sounds like it will be smart to just sell the f7r engine and continue with the c1j :?
if your selling give me a call
What are the figures of dans car?
In the vid on santa pod his car seems to have quite some more power than yours.
You run cr 9:1 on skimmed pistons right?[/code]
which videos? lol
i run more than dans, i run 12.4 1/4 mile and he runs 12.8 ;-) thats best, obviously there are highs and lows but in all the vids of us both he gets better start as the boy can launch then i reel him in ;-)
268bhp to my 285bhp ;-)
how much torque is yours chucking out now coops?. and what psi, cheers
Not on the low boost setup anymore coops?
Which is yours, the red or the grey one?
Type: "clio turbo santa pod" on ebay and you will see.
Love the sound of the red one!
I suppose the bov is HKS? I have the same, sounds lovely!!
can you put a pic of the engine in here?
mines the grey one, identical to the red one mechanically....just proven quicker....so far. dans is very fast this year tho and yet to be proven a pod but have a feeling it may finally beat mine
didit, i run around 16psi peak, 14 steady across the range for 260lb/ft peak torque :-)
dans bov is a random metal recirc with no labels on, mines a standard vw 20vt one, rated to 14psi........oops!!!!lol!

I cant see projects cause i'm no paying member :p
What turbo? Gt28rs ?
260flb aye,im on that as well at 11psi. Just need a new clutch and a few bits done and maybe more boost, tbh its fast enough for a daily motor with traffic and speedbumps etc
u
ai gt28rs
yeah the p's chuck out less torque than the r's hence i get less torque for my psi!
i'm loath to put anymore boost through it, gearboxes just simply cant take it with the kind of abuse i throw at the car
Dhayrone has about the same figures with 8psi constant on a R..
Maybe u guys need to consider fitting a vw gearbox like Chris did...
i am very interested in how to fit a VW and which vw to use.... because gearboxes are very rare in the netherlands....
No they're not. Or did u mean jc's?
At the moment i am moving. When i have everything done i'm going to get my 5 out of the garage and going to rent a garage box for it so i have enough room at home to work on the engine.
I'll keep you guys posted :)
Maybe we could help eachother out!
Would be thinking about:
Custom mounts.
Adapter engine>gearbox
Adapter crank>flywheel
Clutch>hydraulic
Custom drive shafts.
Shift box from a mk4 golf
The advantages are the gearings (1st 60, 2nd 110, 3rd 160, 4th 210 & 5th 260)(all in km/h and redline @ 7000)
Sper diff costs €600 against €1100 for the jc
And a healthy box is proven to withstand 350hp on a vr6t (so much more torque than a valver with 350hp)
And last but not least loads of clutches available (dubble plate etc.)
Scoff is using a vw gearbox too, maybe he can help us out with some issues :)
I already bought a .cad drawing on the adapter.
Going to sort out who can laser it for me...
no problem mate, will keep up with u asa im back home/'
it'll take a little while cause i'm still moving and all the fuss that comes along with it....
is this the r5gtt pace chargecoolerset?
i've been thinkering with my intercooler but it's just not going to fit in the engine bay of a r5 :?
