+ some silicone bends and a long ally straight to mate it upto the valver pipework.

Pretty much straight fit for F4R conversions though.

How well does this lower radiator cope with traffic jams in the summer?

The radiator is perfectly capable of cooling. I've done a sustained 4500rpm for 30 minutes and the datalogging showed coolant temps no higher than 90 degrees, i.e completely normal.

Its fine in traffic too, my fan kicks in and stays in for a long time, if anything i need a bigger fan but i cant fit one due to its size. I may swap to 2 smaller fans.

How about trackdays (that 30min drive was probably highway)?

I was also thinking to fit 2 fans.

Mine is the same size.
I have the APD one - probably just a VW item or similar.

No issues in traffic - but fan does stay on for longer.
On regular trackdays wit a cooling down lap - no issues.

Only issue i have had was after a lap at the ring where you often end up in heavy traffic after the lap. Fan could not keep up.
I normally use Motul water wetter which does lower temps by approximately 5-10deg. but did'nt on the trip to the ring.
I even use a bigger Pacet fan. 2 fans might be the solution.

I am thinking of having a thicker on made using a better core and with the water connections in the correct positions.

And how thick is this GTI version?

Think it has a 40mm thick core. Apparently the westfield boys use them instead of the common used 1.0l polo radiators

Oh there's some nice ones there! Now to wire in the ECU fan control...

I may measure up the size I need over weekend.

I trial fitted my new short rad and it's a bit wider compared to the original rad. Problem is, that it does not fit nicely into a slot on the subframe. Anyone else experianced this? Do I have to mod my subframe?

Any pics?
