View Full Version : Martin's clio????
I was thinking last about martins car last night and the thought entered my head, that it is a possibility that martins engine is an F7P not an F7R, if so this could explain a lot even with the cams etc, but could also be a load of rubbish, i think it's worth a look after all this money has been spent, mind you i think someone would have noticed this!

LOL, 14.90 qtr with de-cat, chip and filter!? I don't think you'll get that from a valver...clutching at straws now! I think it just a crap engine....tbh well it used to be ok now it crap...for it's spec anyway.
well it was 12 o clock at night martin and i was hoping for the best, thought that way you'd have the quickest valver engined williams!!!lol
Aye good thinkin' one of the quickest 1.8s around!
lol......i think it has been mentioned before mate tbh...but even with the mods it has now its too quick for a 1.8
unless it did more damage than announced wen the cam chewed the head up etc......controversial

Andy was hunting for a new crank shaft for it after the cam belt went.

If it was a 1.8 then Martin would basically be running an old cup car (except his hasnt been blueprinted and has willy track and gearbox) in trms of power to weight ratio. Im sure a cup would get mid 14's on the 1/4 mile.
You should be able to tell if it is a 1.8 though as the torque and power delivery would be different from a Willy lump surely? I mean if it used to be a slow to pick up low down and then go mental at 4.5 like a 1.8 surely he would have noticed notice?
I would notice fella, it picks up very well indeed...
yes mate it picks up the same as a willy low down.......it just has no balls mid range......as i said to martin after id driven it down the strip........'it just has no mid range kick.....no pull............its flat'

Whats the characteristics of your rev range?

I know for a fact that GDI bought, or tried to buy a new crank shaft for Martins car. If the damage was that bad that they needed a cranks shaft, do you think they rebuilt the whole bottom end?
If they did, maybe its not run in yet? Hence not as quick as it should be?
how about an F7P head instead fo the willy one if that was damaged??
surely they would have told martin if they had rebuilt the bottom end!

They didnt tell him they changed the crank (assuming that they did find one and change it, i know they asked someone i know for one)
