View Full Version : people with oil coolers
what sort of oil pressure do you get on cold starts hot idles
and around 3k rpm driving ?
very cold start around 4bars
hot idle almost 0 bar
3k rpm driving 2 bars

what gauge are you using? that's very very low indeed, but the standard sensor tells lies so dont trust it

on that video its summer time and with a f7p and no oil cooler .
i think increasing the capacity of oil system is causing the
pressure drop ?
What oil is that?
I get about 3.5-4 bar cold start and 1 bar at normal operating temperatures on 10w 40 with cooler.

what bore pipes are you using for the oil cooler? 1/2 inch internal is neede as a minimum or the relief valve will see high pressure, and open up early, giving low pressure inside the block

i am not sure what size they are ,i used what came with the mocal oil cooler.
where exactly is this relief valve located ?
If it's a standard Mocal pipe setup it will be 1/2" or more don't worry. The thermostat is located in the sandwich plate.
You could try a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
The only other thing I'd suggest is replacing the block or rebuilding it.

shaks,
i have very similar readings on mine, whacked a mechanical gauge on it, got 6 bar cold idle, 3 bar warm driving, 1.5 warm idle
hope this helps
I have a 10 row mocal cooler and the standard clock shows 4 bar cold idle, 1 bar hot idle and 3 bar running after it's up to temperature.
I'm using Elf SXR 5w-40.
