With a very heavy heart i've decided to put this car up for sale. I don't have the time nor the space for it, nor can i afford to tax it alongside my hybrid and R5 GTT.

I rescued this from Mat Brown's back garden about 3/4 years ago now. Bought as a rolling shell with no engine and no interior.

Most of you will already know this car, and Paddy will testify how much fun it is.

Specification:

1.8 16v F7P engine, on roughly 140/150k. Bought from Dan on here (with the brooky) on approx 120k. Didn't touch the engine before dropping it in, given it plenty of abuse including a trackday, and it runs absolutely perfectly. Stem seals are a little worn, but it doesn't smoke at all unless you let it come down the revs and bury the throttle, you'll get a slight puff of smoke (most valvers do this anyway).

I've been driving this car around for the last 2 years or so giving it daily abuse, and i've even commuted in it, and i've never had a problem.

It's running a JC5 Laguna gearbox which was purchased on approx 90k. I can honestly say this is the smoothest, tightest gearbox i've ever had! It feels lovely, and again, has never been a problem. Circlip has never popped, although i have replaced it when the driveshaft decided to pull it out. The gearbox is supported by an R5 GTT rear gearbox mount and an R19 front gearbox mount. The battery tray and top gearbox mount have been ditched.

It's also running a brutal R5 GTT uprated clutch with standard release arm. Snappy is not the word! BUT, this clutch is absolutely perfect for fast road abuse and trackdays as the bite feels a lot more agressive and confident than a standard clutch. I've never managed to get any clutch slip on harsh gearchanges.

It has the standard 16v clover wheels DIY painted matt black. Not an amazing job but they look good. Running Goodyear Eagle F1's (195/45) on the back with legal tread but the front tyres need replacing.

The power steering has been removed and a manual rack with brand new arms and track rod ends has been fitted, along with the column. All PAS pipes and pump have been removed.

It has an aftermarket rally style deep dish suede steering wheel.

Currently, it's running a full Magnex exhaust system as this gives the best performance with that particular engine. However you have the choice of a magnex or a mongoose. Or both if you're greedy. It's also decatted.

The engine has PTFE gaskets for both the throttle body and the inlet manifold. The inlet manifold was half polished by hand before it was fitted, but never maintained. The cam cover is roughly painted back and the pulley cover is white, but now dirty.

It has a brand new cambelt on it, and the tensioners were brand new when the engine went in a couple of years back.

Currently sitting on uprated Spax nitrogen gas suspension with lowering springs. The rear is also lowered, a lot.

Bodywork is not what i'd describe to be mint, but, it's far from bad. The drivers arch has a bit of rust on it, but i've been treating this and recently sprayed it matt black, so you barely notice it. It's still solid, though. The passenger side sill has also had a repair section welded in, and is now solid.

Brakes are standard, but, have always been extremely sharp on this car for some reason. Suggest you take it easy on the brakes if you test drive it else you'll be out the front window! Never felt the need to upgrade them.

It's registered as a Cat C on the log book, but it's only had a tiny knock on the corner and cracked a wing. The wing has been professionally repaired (before i bought it). Bumper was cracked so i replaced it with a Ph1 bumper, which has been modded to fit the mocal oil cooler.

The foglights look like they're almost brand new, no signs of rust yet.

Interior is completely stripped, bar 2 front seats. No dashboard, no speakers, no stereo, no plastics. Battery has been relocated to the passenger side of the boot and ratchet strapped down. The battery is also brand new. Could do with replacing for a lightweight battery though.

The front window is cracked on the passenger side and may need replacing to pass an MOT.

No tax, no MOT, but not much work required to get it on the road for some immense fun.

This car was built with country lanes in mind, hence the high-revving F7P. Keep this above 4k and keep your foot planted and you will not stop smiling. Or, just feather the throttle on overrun for some nice gurgles and pops. This car never fails to deliver a satisfying drive (especially with the mongoose..)

I've also got a side exit which has been historically fitted to the car. Rubbish for torque, but HILARIOUS. I've never heard pops as loud as this, and it makes people scream!

Doubt i'll get much interest in this which is the main reason i've kept it, but if there's someone on here willing to give this car the love and NOT kill it, i'd be happy to sell this to you.

Has had a brand new alternator and a brand new radiator in the last year or so.

Price - £500, negotiable.

Getting rare to find a decent black valver now.

Don't have any current pics, it's raining outside so don't fancy rolling it out the garage. Here's some previous photos of the car however:
