Which Gearbox

[16v_Turbo]

Just wondering whats the best gearbox to use, spec will be as follows..
F7R Turbo, custom manifold + ihi vf23 turbo with hope of 330bhp
ill be getting a custom map so i can ask the tuner to try and keep the torque down as much as possible...

Just wanting peoples opinion which box will be best to use....

pity someone wouldnt try and mate a 197 box to see how that would perform, or even better the box off a megane 225 with the diff in it already, someone out there can do this, and i bet a new box for the 225 with diff would probably be cheaper than buying a gripper diff and rebuild, gripper is good for 200 odd i beleive, drive shafts wouldnt be too hard to join i wouldnt think, although the speedo would be a problem, cant wait to see this one :wink:

i've been thinkering with some values but there's a second problem.
a 197 and 225 have much bigger wheels, if you calculate this down to the size of clio wheels the top aend still would be very low and you just have to shift more due to the 6sp gearbox....

why would you want to keep the torque down. surely torque is the thing you want more than a power figure?.

im running a torque figure of 250 and havent killed a box yet. mind you i dont drop the clutch or do rolling burnouts.
