Hi guys, I need to be sure of the size of the wire gasket that sits on the end of the dwnpipe for the flex joint.

By size, I mean inner diameter. I am guessing it's 52mm, or 51.5mm.

Can I order one from anywhere?

I have a 52mm here but the edges are at a kind of sharp angle rather than rounded if you see what I mean? It may not matter, but I've already had the bastard apart in the rain and don't want to keep doing it if I am just wasting my time with the wrong gasket.

Need to get the flex joint on this weekend.

Reply from Italy:

Hello.

The i.d diameter of that ring is 50mm.

If you are in a hurry, you can find a replacement part at any Opel/Vauxhall dealer in you area, or at a local muffler shop, since it has the same i.d. dimensions as the sealing ring which comes stock on the exhaust of several Astra F models.

However, we can supply the ring, if you have trouble in locating one
locally.

Also, please let us know which flex joint parts you need, beside of the
ring.

Do you need bolts & springs only, or the entire outlet/connecting pipe?

We will be more than glad to help you.

Best Regards

Fast reply!

I've already tried a 50mm ring, it id NOT fit, it fell apart when I tried to force it on.

I suspect that with the sleeve it goes over, the wire gasket is more like 52mm...

Nice to get a response from Italy though.

Right:

The i.d. of the wire gasket is 50mm as Supersprint told me. The gasket Kam Racing sent me says it's 50mm, but it wasn't. It was 48.5 mm. No wonder it wouldn't fit!

I went to a local exhaust specialist recommended by Arj256 and told them to show me their Astra F gaskets, low and behold, they had one and BAM it fit the downpipe like a glove ;)

Yey! I win!
