For sale is a great example of the Renault Clio Williams. Regular members of this site may recognise this car as it was owned by Daz for many years.
This car is a Williams 2, it has covered just 96,800 miles and comes with a fantastic documented history.
The car has a fully documented service book showing stamps every 6,000 miles, right up to the last at 94,336. I have an A4 folder full of receipts, invoices, documentation, previous MOT's, old tax discs and both sets of keys. I even have the original sales invoice - Ironically delivered to a Mr Williams on 01/03/1995.
I have recently had the gearbox refurbished, changed both driveshafts, changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, lower ball joints and radiator.
MOT expires - July 15th 2011
Tax expires - February 28th 2011
I purchased the car in March 2009 from a fellow Williams enthusiast. I looked at a few examples at the time and this one out from the rest. My Williams is used as a second car so only gets used at weekends and in good weather. The reason for sale is through lack of use, I've done less than 2,000 miles since purchasing it, and it gets even less use since upgrading my daily drive vehicle.
Clio's from this era can suffer from rust, particularly the rear arches and lower doors. As you can see from the pictures the paintwork in these areas is superb. The alloy wheels are also in great condition and feature the correct polished silver lip. All four tyres have plenty of tread and come in the standard Williams size as from the factory, 185/55 rather than the 195/50 fitted to many.
The car has no modifications, it is just the way Renault intended. It has a genuine Renault exhaust system, the original cassette player head unit and the suit carrier underneath the parcel shelf. The car does benefit however from a Toad alarm and immobiliser system which is Thatcham certified. The cam belt was last changed at 88,678 miles, the clutch has also been replaced recently.
The car is over 15 years old and is in fantastic condition for its age. It is however not perfect and there are a few issues which I would prefer to be honest about:
- There is a small dink in the roof
- There are a few stone chips to the front bumper/bonnet and a small scratch on the rear bumper
- There is a very small patch of rust formed on the inside of the boot lid around the drainage hole
- The rev counter can occasionally play up and miss-read, it does work correctly more often than not however
As you can see from the photos however the car scrubs up very well. Overall this is a great example of one of the best hot hatches ever built. The car gets great comments on its condition wherever it goes. It has had much time and money spent on it by all of it's previous owners and I would like to find it a good new home where it will be cared for.
I am located in Leicestershire, 2 minutes from the M69, 10 minutes from both the M1 & M6.
