For sale is a great example of the Renault Clio Williams. Regular members of this site may recognise this car as it was owned by Daz for many years.

This car is a Williams 2, it has covered just 96,800 miles and comes with a fantastic documented history.

The car has a fully documented service book showing stamps every 6,000 miles, right up to the last at 94,336. I have an A4 folder full of receipts, invoices, documentation, previous MOT's, old tax discs and both sets of keys. I even have the original sales invoice - Ironically delivered to a Mr Williams on 01/03/1995.

I have recently had the gearbox refurbished, changed both driveshafts, changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, lower ball joints and radiator.

MOT expires - July 15th 2011
Tax expires - February 28th 2011

I purchased the car in March 2009 from a fellow Williams enthusiast. I looked at a few examples at the time and this one out from the rest. My Williams is used as a second car so only gets used at weekends and in good weather. The reason for sale is through lack of use, I've done less than 2,000 miles since purchasing it, and it gets even less use since upgrading my daily drive vehicle.

Clio's from this era can suffer from rust, particularly the rear arches and lower doors. As you can see from the pictures the paintwork in these areas is superb. The alloy wheels are also in great condition and feature the correct polished silver lip. All four tyres have plenty of tread and come in the standard Williams size as from the factory, 185/55 rather than the 195/50 fitted to many.

The car has no modifications, it is just the way Renault intended. It has a genuine Renault exhaust system, the original cassette player head unit and the suit carrier underneath the parcel shelf. The car does benefit however from a Toad alarm and immobiliser system which is Thatcham certified. The cam belt was last changed at 88,678 miles, the clutch has also been replaced recently.

The car is over 15 years old and is in fantastic condition for its age. It is however not perfect and there are a few issues which I would prefer to be honest about:

- There is a small dink in the roof
- There are a few stone chips to the front bumper/bonnet and a small scratch on the rear bumper
- There is a very small patch of rust formed on the inside of the boot lid around the drainage hole
- The rev counter can occasionally play up and miss-read, it does work correctly more often than not however

As you can see from the photos however the car scrubs up very well. Overall this is a great example of one of the best hot hatches ever built. The car gets great comments on its condition wherever it goes. It has had much time and money spent on it by all of it's previous owners and I would like to find it a good new home where it will be cared for.

I am located in Leicestershire, 2 minutes from the M69, 10 minutes from both the M1 & M6.

Sometimes I do, I sometimes wish I was pottering around in it still, it's still one of those cars people notice...

But then again sometimes its nice to be just left alone! :D

Mat.

I have asked the question, but unfortunately whilst he is after a Cup, he wants a standard one.

Anyone for some Recaro's?!

Daz.

I now have some firm interest in my Cup, so once its sold i will be more than likely buying this from you. You had much interest from else where?

BaJ

Hi Jamie,

Good news about your cup.

Yes I've had quite a bit of interest. One guy wants to come see it but is struggling to find time and another guy is interested in taking a look next weekend.

I've also had some interest via PistonHeads from a chap in France! I'm reluctant to sell it abroad though.

Cheers

It actually lived in france for a while - It has french mot certificates somewhere in the history.

I want this car so much, the more i look at it, the more appealing it gets.

The interior is spotless, the shell looks in superb condition.

I hope i can sell my car in time, i really do.

I spent a long time searching for mint interior panels, a couple were scratched when I got it so I swapped them out for fresh ones..

The hardest panels to find were the rear c pillar panels for the non opening rear windows!

They were all scratched to buggery the ones I bought unseen

Still looks a minter. I remember Daz doing this at the time. A fine buy for anyone after one.

Were they standard on the Willy 2 or an improvement you made?

Basically where I used to live the car was parked on a stupidly steep hill facing up under a very big tree.

When it rained it was simply too much for the rear drivers window to cope with, even after new glass and seals the fact there is a little bit of give in th rear window opening caused water to rest on the seal and seep in.

So I went to Brun ar renault and bought brand new seals and glass for non opening windows - sloved it there and then.

I'd probably swap them back now I have a much better drive for the sake of originality but its hard not to accept the car is safer with these in.

No-one ever notices anyway! :D

No, looks good, just wondered! I'd do a swap for my opening rears if anyone was bothered about originality as I need to get fixed seals for the poly screens on the track car.

Right the person who wants to buy my car has sold his car, and will be all being well picking mine up on Saturday.

Have you got any other viewings of the car this weekend? Because i need this Williams in my life, i have been looking for one for nearly 3 months, and none look to be half as a nice as this example.

Hi Jamie,

I've got a potential viewer on Thursday, although it's not confirmed yet.

I've got another guy who would like to come over Sat/Sun if I've still got it.

Cheers
