Very reluctant sale of my much loved Clio Williams, no 161.
L Reg, registered 01/01/94
109K miles with Full Service History (and every MOT certificate to confirm mileage)
Full MOT (just passed with flying colours - without advisories)
Standard unmodified car.
£2650 ono
I’ve owned and loved the car for over 5 years and my intention was to keep it forever... my museum piece! It’s been a luxury part-time love but unfortunately due to my expanding family and the increasing financial demands that entails it’s a luxury I can no longer afford. (its car no.4 in the family!). I really don’t want to sell it, but I’ve finally succumbed and I'm trying to gauge the market by listing it here.
It’s a really fine example. Mechanically absolutely sound. Bodywork is really nice too. There’s a tiny bit of rust inside the rear arch, barely visible. Also a few bits under the bonnet and in the bootlid. A couple of small supermarket trolley dings in the body but otherwise it’s in really good condition.
I bought the car in June 2005 and in that time I’ve only covered 11k miles. I’ve got a huge pile of receipts for many £1000’s from previous owners, covering servicing, repairs etc from new. There’s too much to list! I’ve also got every MOT certificate, 15 in total. Since buying the car I’ve spent quite a bit of money on it, maintaining it regardless of cost, I’ve summarised the bigger stuff below:
Sept 2005 – Gearbox repair (I wasn’t happy with crunchy 3rd gear selection). Gearbox removed by local garage and sent away for specialist repair/rebuild. 3rd gear, ¾ synchroniser and bearings all rebuilt. Cost £500
Sept 2005 – Crankshaft oil seal replaced (and cost of gearbox removal). Cost £338
Oct 2005 – Professional paintwork repairs (I wasn’t happy with stonechips and scratches) - fix scratch in roof and scratch in OSR wing. Re-painted bonnet and front bumper (due to stone chips). Cost £606
Oct 2005 – Hill Engineering power ignition service kit. Cost £99
Nov 2005 – New Power Steering Rack. Cost £260
Sept 2006 – New brakes & pads all round. New rear wheel bearings. Service brake callipers. Cost £210
Sept 2007 – New steering column/shaft. Cost £297
Oct 2007 – New auxiliary belt. Cost £101
Oct 2008 – New alternator. New discs and pads all round (due to pitting caused by lack of use!). Cost £427
Sept 2009 – New front tyres – Toyo Proxies. Cost £150
Oct 2009 – New brake pipes. Cost £143
In addition to this I’ve also had the car serviced 4 times in the time I’ve had it. Twice with Renault and twice at a local specialist.
The car had done 98k miles when I bought it in June 2005. It’s now done 109K miles. I’ve barely used it. It’s spent the vast majority of its time stored and SORN’d in my garage. I tend to get it out each summer and use it for 2-3 months and then put it away again.
It’s just passed its MOT; it sailed through without even an advisory. So its MOT is now valid until October 2011.
It’s got full service history, 18 stamps in total (most are Renault Main Dealer) I last had it serviced 2,000 miles ago.
Mechanically sound and runs really well.
