so u think it wud handle a 8k r.p.m map without goin pop i was thinking of puttin arp rod bolts in it for a bit of reassurance lol

you were using standard f7p engine on low boost turbo ??
how long did it last ?

9psi it ran

lad who owned it before me left it undone, i never noticed, couldnt hear it pinking over the side exit and wasnt really knowledgeable about turbos at the time so i ran it for 1000 miles on the limiter every gear till it went  so didnt do bad really!

I think that F7P and especially F7R bore/stroke geometry isn't the most suitable for manic revving. You definitely need ARP bolts for 8000 RPM, but I'd invest in a good set of forged rods also. It would survive a few times on standard internals, but not for long. Long story short, from my experiance and from what I've read, std internals are strong enough as long as you don't rev them too high.

as above, good for handling power and torque but not so rev happy without work

Megane F7r and some forged rods, i dont want to be standard conrods in a turbo engine

whats the rough size of the smallest INTERCOOLER you can
use for low bost coops ? pipe diameters etc ?

standard rods will take huge horse power but not 8k rpm..even with uprated bolts..

wat do u call huge power with standard rods

Wobba

No point revving to 8k as there is no power there on standard internal setup...usually all downhill from about 6/6.5k revs.

to shag yea i also built a 1.8 16v with huge ports (went ot with the die grinder) and cams the max power was at 8000 so it was reved to 8500 daily and buzzed to 9 a couple times. after a year and prob 20k on clock i took it appart just to see how ****ed it was, turned out to be good as new. only a little bore glazing. although the f7r is a long stroke torq monster so wont need reving any where that. my current megane f7r makes max power at 6100 so there is no point going past 6500

scan ebay mate, ones for other cars come up quite often and can be had for 100 quid or so. then you need any extras that arent included such as boost pipework and sometimes pump/radiator/pipework for coolant

yeah but what size am i looking at for low boost ??
obviously would like the smallest possible unit for ease of
fitment ,lightweight etc .

ohh and pics of your charge cooler or it did not happen !!! :P :D

wat do u call huge power with standard rods

see them used in a 400bhp engine...

i would say 350bhp to be totally safe..

i would never run standard rods to 8k and beyond myself..7k with decent bolts ..

shak, i was using an rs turbo chargecooler setup, came from a car running 320bhp, used 51mm hose's, i bought it from an rs owners club for £100 and it included everything.
i also believe my setup ran a much better route than the one designed for the clio (which incidently is exactly the same as the 5 one).

ive just sold it for £250.

lol! I can vouch for the coffee...It's filtered through a set of Jenveys and a sausage filter for the perfect texture!
