I would like a lightend and balanced flywheel for my Williams. I spotted a Willy 1 for sale on Piston Heads saying that he had a billet steel flywheel from K-Tec Racing from a Clio 172..

Would this work on a Williams..? Dose any1 no if they are the same.

Thanks

what does a balanced and lightened flywheel actually do over standard?

faster engine response, its easier to rev a engine with a lightened fly if you compare with a heavy one..

But also the revs drop off quicker.

Only if you take your foot off the gas!

And you have always the left foot to brake

the clutch wont fit but this is good as the 172 clutch is bigger and stronger. so get 172 fly and clutch and your laughing.

now lightened fly
less weight = less inertia = better acceleration. as the engine internials take alot of power to spin up. the faster it tries to spin the greater the effect i.e. super light internals will have a massive effect in first, a lesser effect in second and hardly any in 5th. as a rolly road only measures power in a big gear with massive load the improovement is not easy to measure. there is a calculation in a visard book which i will put up if anyone is interested.
put simply less rotrational mass means faster acceleration. but no difference at all to top speed much the same as lightening the car

172 (and meggy f7r) flywheel has different trigger pattern that won't work with the Williams
