View Full Version : Wee track day camera :)
Just spotted a thread on CS about a tiny camera. I looked at the quality of the footage posted there and was amazed!

I bought one and a 8 gig SDHC Class 6 card. Can't wait to try it out!

VERY impressive!!
wow! very good for such a low price.
Ye it is a bargain :) I am going to try different fitting locations, both inside, and outside the car. Hidden under the numberplate where the grill is would be one, on the helmet perhaps or headrest bar. It comes with a weeny mount which I reckon I can screw into a couple of places for rearward viewing.
Amazed at the quality for such a low price! It'll be great until I get another expensive one, and even then Ic an still have it as a rearward facing backup :)

Ye but bullet cams are much more versatile with their data storage etc and other stuff like additional microphones which you can position etc.
better make sure your driving is up to spec wobba. 8)

Haha! Yea! I am out of practice. I blame the shitty weather and being permanently knackered, add to that Summeh has gone AWOL to Kent and Arj has scrapped his Willy :(

Those look good VFM. My 2010 track day season starts on 6th March and these look well worth a punt. Can you let me know where you got yours from please Wobba and I'll order now and hopefully get them through in time.

Have a look here mate: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVR-Sports-Voice-Recorder-Video-Camera-Spy-Cam-Mini-DV_W0QQitemZ280459460852QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CE_M P3Access_RL?hash=item414cafc0f4
There's the £21 one which is posted from the UK, or the ones that come from like Hong Kong etc. I have seem some at £2.99 haha!
Make sure you get a class 6 memory card though, SDHC one, as it stops the picture from becoming juddery.

OK, bought one of these. It now transpires the seller is on holiday for a week so it is touch and go whether it reaches me before the track day. Thanks for the info on the Class 6 card - I'll make sure I get one of those then. Have you tried a 16GB card in it as I think I read elsewhere that 8GB might be the biggest capacity it can handle?
Yep, 8 gig is the max! Bugger about bloke being away! Argh! Mine was dispatched a day or two ago. Hopefully here soon.
Mine arrived today
the engrish documentation says it accepts a max of 8gb for the sd micro, then 16gb a few pages down :?
I've got an 8gb card and it works fine :)
Looks like you can't charge and film at the same time though

Bought this cam on ebay 5 mins ago :D.
Does it accept only 8GB SDHC card (as the documentation says) or can it handle 16GB card?

Can't remember at the moment I'm afraid. Let me check what I have got in mine - I know it works but can't recall the size.
Here is my Latest setup ;)

Thoes cheep ones are "ok" but the skipping does my nut!!! if you look close you can see the frame changes. probably because its only 15fps or even less.
These ones are high quality 60fps and 1080P HD
but then im kinda biast as my company are the UK Distributors
Thanks for the feedbacks.
Flan: this cheap cam is a 30 fps cam (with class 6 or better card). I had made a search on YT and CS before I bought it, I think its quality is enough good.

I want one of thessssseee pleeeaseeeee!!!!
I have now bought two of the mini ebay specials. The skipping frames is due to the type of memory card you se. Low quality memory cards do it apparently. Mine is fine!!! Well, the old one was before it got nicked, and I have yet to test the new one.
I tried one of those cheapy ones and it actually worked quite well but it was horrible to use, no indication of battery remaining, button incredibally awkward to press, mount really flimsy.
Better than nothing if you can put up with the issues, but really not a patch on a decent camera.
Pay for what you get i suppose. you cant knock them for the money....
although the card cost as much as the product
Wooba... PM if you want a WC Price

Yep, my card cost more than the camera did too as I was forewarned to buy a card with high transfer rate to stop the frames dropping! Although they are not the best in quality the fact you can just stick it somewhere on the outside of the car with a bit of gaffer tape to get an interesting angle (like inside the wheelarch to watch brakes glowing and suspension working) and not care if it were to drop off as you are only £30 down is a big bonus.
Stevie, can this cam record when it's being charged? That would the best if I could use a 32 GB card + in-car USB charger (if it's possible).
