on with changing the coolant today got most of the old stuff out but want to know if there is a drain somewhere on engine to allow me to drain the coolant from the block, pics would be good or failing that a clear guide to where i need to be looking thx also any tips for flushing would be much appreciated :)

There is a small plug in the block itself. Located at back of block, it's kinda near the oil pressure sensor under the manifold, obviously above the sump.

I would have thought that draining the system from the bottom radiator hose then undoing the hoses at the header tank and sticking a hose in each one to flush through would have cleared it all out :)

That's what I intend to do when I change my matrix and do a system flush and full rad-out flush!

would agree with that to a point i did exactly what u intend to do plus disconnected as many hoses as i could to flush out old coolant but as on a number of vehicles renault inc a quantity of coolant will remain around the block and given the system holds 7 litres and i could only get 6 litres in i think that backs up my point :) :)
