just wondering if it would be possible to bore a Valver out to 2.0...

Would it seriously weaken the block?

Can be done but you need the crank from a Williams as it's the extra throw thats gives it the increased capacity.
Prima used to do a 2.1 conversion.

a 2L block is higher than a 1,8 as it has 10mm extra stroke, so i dont think its possible to get a 2l from a 1,8

max bore is 84mm if iam correct and that will give you about 2060cc in a 2l and in a 1,8 1838cc

It is possible, My engine is a bored out 1.8 with a 1.9 diesel crank (same as williams).
The bore sizes are not that different, so that will be ok, but the williams crank has a larger throw, so therfore cannot rotate inside the 1.8 block, it will need machining.

no you can the increased stroke is a problem at the bottom where the crank fouls the bore and it needs to be relieved to allows the crank to turn when the rods are fitted...

can be done but better to start with the stronger bigger engine..its not just a rebore..

no it isnt...they use different pistons with a different compresione height.

Yes you can, you can bore to 82.7mm from 82mm....but the main gain is from the crank, as has been said.
In my experience, it really depends on the 1.8 block casting as to how "well" it accepts a 2.0 crank, as material needs to be removed from the inside to allow the extra throw. Some require a couple of mm removal, some require 5mm and its touch and go whether your left with enough meat.

Buy a 2.0 bottom end, cheap enough these days.

I just realised that a 2l 16v and a 1,8 16 uses the same cambelt. i thought that a 2l 16v had a higher block as the 2l 8v has a higher block than 1,8 8v because the 2,0 F3r has a longer cambelt than a F3n .. my bad.. :oops:
