I'm after a Williams 1 in good condition that has not had a load of paint.
Mileage isn't an issue as long as the history/reciepts show that it has been looked after.
I am VERY fussy but have cash waiting for the right example.

I think he's more referring to cars that have been done up to sell, with cheap repairs. Not cars that are restored for personal pleasure.

Seen it but this puts me off.

The exterior requires minimal attention to the NSF door and wheel arch and being 15 years of age and Scottish weather would benefit from a re-spray. We have been quoted around £1500 from a competent bodyshop. Williams stickers etc. are all available from Renault.

Mileage isn't all that to me.
Just means the engine is clogged up with sludge.

so a rust free willy 1 on 120k advertised at £4000 wouldnt be a issue ?

MatBrown
17-08-2009, 17:36
Nope, if it was fully serviced and all original paint.

i was posting as i thought you may be interested, i wouldnt be able to get him to sell as i dont have the financial clout or willingness to pay as i would guess he would want a bit for it

the idea was to give you a heads up and see if you are interested in a bare shell unpainted or not, if you had expressed interest then i could of researched further, got you contact details etc

that was the point of my post

so what would you rather have.... orginal paint with all orginal bits bearing in mind the thing is 16 years old or a full restore project that has had thousands spent on it..

aye maybe mate. id just rather buy an untouched version as then you know EXACTLY what your getting. fresh paint could be covering up a multitude of sins. the condition would be reflected in the price, a good cond 1 will bring the higher price obv. but how pissed off would you be if you had to then start paying out for more arch work in a couple years??

Jamie.
01-09-2009, 11:07
I think it is getting to the point where getting a mint untouched (by paint) Williams 1 is a luxury you do not have.

I don't mind buying one with sprayed arches. Sure you may need them doing at some point in the future but whatever happens, painted or not this is most likley to be the conclusion.
