how do you afford it? Must be an extra 1k a year to run a second car!? :? not including the price of buying it!

richy

err well cost me £175 to buy it taxed an tested, insurence is £60 a month and uses about £60-70 fuel a month to go work n back,

the clio is already payed for insurence wise only £500 all in(less then escort)
fuel depends when i use it which may be once a week

but before when i used the clio it was costing me a good £120 amonth on fuel easy , and was paying £1600 to insure it at time, plus because i used it everyday was more things going wrong!!

but my total running cost have come down and thats running 2 cars lol

£60 +£70 for escort per month
then about say £60 for clio fuel per month

all legal etc lol :)

The Williams is my second car.
The other cars a Clio Dynamic diesel.
Regards the extra cost though its not that bad. Insurance is £800 on the diesle (no NCB since its used on the Williams policy) road fund is £80 a year. Then servicing is about £150 from Renault per year (adverage)
I looked at a 182 but doing 20k or so a year boring miles it would cost £800 or so extra in fuel.
Also the insurance will be about £500 next year so infact having 2 cars will be cheaper.
Plus if I damage or have problems with the car on the track I have it towed home and use the diesel all the time sicne I need a car for work. Having a broken 172 is useless.
The WIlliams was well you know the price a 182 would have been ~£8k. Depreciation is going to be say £3.5k on both cars in the next two year. 182's will loose £7k (being as I'd do 30k or so a year). SO that a £3.5k saving. Say £2k in parts to maintain the Williams (assuming the 182 repairs would all be covered under warently which they wouldn't) I'm still £1.5k up at the end.

I've been mulling the idea of a car to get me to work but I can't bring myself to pay 200-500 quid for a car and then 500-600 to insure it + running costs... I would like to make the nana a dedicated 'fun' car but I don't think its gonna happen at the mo.

its quite easy if u can get cheaper insurence on the nana, becuase i saved about £1100 on insurence on the clio williams i can run the escort aswell adn still be well under what i payed for the clio alone last year

Martin

Aye I tried insuring the nana for 3000 miles a year they still wanted 950 quid!!

I currently have 11 cars at home,
Willy 1
Willy 2
N reg Hybrid
J reg Hybrid
J reg 16v x3
K reg 16v
K reg 19 16v
Cav TD
Cav 1.6
but only have insurance on 2 of them.
Whichever Clio i fancy at the time and a Cav TD for running around in, Elephant match your NCB on a 2nd car so insurance for the Cav was £280 for a year, Willy was about £550 for the year.
Cav cost £250 and came with a free one for spares.

it's a bit tatty, wheels need refurb, needs some dents and tidying on the bodywork, but it's generally in good condition... but there's also a dent in the roof where a tree hit it... not as bad as it sounds, but annoying as feck none the less.
interior is mint bar drivers seat which has wear on the sticky outy bit.
need a clutch too as it slips at higher revs, although driving it normally you wouldn't notice it.

no idea how much i'd want for it... not a lot tho, I dont have the time or money to spend on it at the moment... I did want to strip it and 2.0 it, but the shit box Williams I have put paid to that idea... I hate my car it's shit... maybe I should ditch the Willy and keep the valver... lol

breaking them both for parts sounds sooo much more appealing tho  ...especially the Williams... the cars a cock, complete nob head car, I hate it... whatever it has is terminal, I think it has car aids and it must have caught it at a meet.

I like to keep my williams in the best condition possible, so not using her for daily shite is good.

richy
08-07-2005, 18:34
i dont mind not using the williams during the week, keeps milage down and less chance of any problems! (touch wood)

and saves alot in cost of fuel every week!

also it makes it even more special to drive after ive driven my escort diesel for a week, forget how good brakes/handling/power is lol !!! :D
