Check your lower gearbox stabiliser mount (commonly known as the dogbone) if you're snapping engine mounts.

It might be excessively worn causing too much engine movement.

I've NEVER had an engine mount snap (must be a lucky one), but prevention is better than cure.

I always fit a 4th (lower gearbox) mount to all my valvers as well as the top gearbox support bracket to keep things nice and steady!

im pretty sure its the dogbone that snaps every time first then another mount goes, i think it is due to me missing a bar which connects from bulkhead to the block but dont know where, as i spotted it on the floor when went to get some bits of rexy, asked him what it was and he explained, i just dont know where it goes back on so will do get that put on properly when do the mounts again

Theres a kinda stabiliser bar that you need. It's mostly straight and about 18" long as far as I can remember and bolts on nead the dogbone and onto the bottom of the block as far as I can remember...hmmm...that's made me think...can't remember seeing one on my Williams...there was deffo one on the valver though...must check in the morning!

Thanks, but that's not my minty fresh underbelly! It's a pic from Willy 171, on the project threads :D

If I ever took my engine out I'd get it as clean as that I reckon :)

Checked mine to see why it had popped out of gear and wobbled a lot...gearbox mount bolt had come completely loose, probably me when I refitted a new one...
