How long have you been there? Get a decent pay off or ought?

FATBOY

3 years in april. hes only laid these workers of temporary (unpaid), but thats on the basis of work coming in. if its temporary lay off you cant claim at all, just try and get cash jobs, and wait to go back, or find another job(its hard at the mo) and lose any redundancy.

Our Company could be facing a total closure. But for me, I could walk out and get another job with the same pay tomorrow, I am severely underpaid already and they know they should be paying me at least another 4/5k a year, so I am not that fussed.

I am in the same boat tbh. If I got made redundant I would actually be better off.

I am on a training contract doing my chartered accountant exams and very near the end now. And if i left I would have to pay back a large % of fees which would be 5k!

So being made redundant I wouldnt have to repay them and prob get another 5k a year somewhere else.

Be a shame though as I do enjoy my job.

And there is the actual hassle of getting a new one too.

Sucks mate :(

I was on such a low wage last year I am legible for working tax credit. This runs out at the end of March, after that, I am royally screwed, as I am no longer eligible. I will defo be looking for a new job as my pay effectively drops by about £3500, and it is already low enough.

I won’t sell the car, as I said I can walk out and get another job quite easily for the same wage if not better. FFS, even the temps I hire get better wages than me! I've got a degree and years of experience in some pretty flashy industries but with about 1 job a year for my old job sector being advertised in the South, there is no hope of going back to it, and I don't want to return to London just for work :(

Looks like it is defo going to happen to me in the next week! :(

I work in a solicitors and thankfully there are jobs about in the area of law I do. So fingers crossed.

It is a nightmare everyone has it hanging over them.

I'm going through that do I take this as an opportunity for a change but I have been doing this for 17 years so it is hard to decide whatelse I could do.

Plus I have always been one of those people who has never known what they want to do when they grow up :D

I wish they would just get on with it at work I feel like I have an axe hanging above my head prob have to wait another week to be told the decision I know they have already made

Times like this, you have to remember that it will turn around. Just have to hang on until that happens. And don't listen to the dates being thrown up right now, year 2010, 2011 etc, it doesn't mean much to the man on the street. But when the going eventually does get better for you - today will seem like a bad memory.

At least 3 months is a decent time frame to sort a new job and be pulling in the cash.
