hi! does a decat pipe on a williams make it stupidly loud i.e. not allowed on track days. and yes i do know it will be louder.

also do silenced decats not give as much of a power gain as a plain straight through jobby?

You should be fine on most track days - I have never had any trouble passing the noise tests with the Clio.

The De cat on a willy makes the car nice! however, on prolonged journeys its a bit much, i personally would go for the silenced decat if you are driving it daily, but stick with the cheapo decat for if you dont

well the williams is purely a track weapon so cheap and cheerful would do nicely!! would heat wrapping it be a benefit? the manifold and downpipe are wrapped.

sparks you have pm!

cheers guys

personally i am not sure the whole wrapping thing is worth the hassle! but if its already done then thats fine, i don't think wrapping the de-cat would make much difference, the place where it is located wouldn't necessarily do too much damage while it radiates heat.... it may even hurt things due to over heating the lambda sensor?

de-cat all the way baby!

I bought a silenced ktr de-cat pipe, it gives my Williams a cool deep growl... many passengers have said that the car is too loud, but i like it. Just bear in mind it won't pass the MOT without the Catalytic convertor in place. :)

Mine passed the MOT without the cat in place. M-reg, so should in theory have one fitted but the emissions were low enough to pass, even without it.

Mine went thru the MOT last year no probs, but when i took it back to the same garage this year, apparently the emissions were too high, so i had to put the Cat back on to get it thru.

So until my cars Track worthy, ill leave the de-cat off... still sounds good anyway :D

Wrapping the decat - don't bother. It's mainly under bonnet temperatures that you need to be bothered about, and the wrap on a decat would seen become messed up with water and debris.

i found my scorpion silenced decat gave better torque fitted to a scorpion cat back than a straight through decat
