Some of you may have heard about this .jason Plato testing the RS Twingo up against a R5GTT Raider............should be interesting?
Plato used to own a GTT i heard.

Really looking forward to that episode. My money is on the 5GTT. Had one as my first car. Made from tin and so I don't think a modern car could come close on fun - I know which one I'd rather have a crash in though :lol:

well what is it, raider 120bhp and arond 750kg, twingosport 133ps so 131bhp and 1050kg

and bet you the raider will have lower centre of gravity etc etc

should walk it for the old skool win :wink:

twingo rs is very slow compared to a gtt, twingo makes 0-62 in 8.7s, whilst gtt makes it in a 7.5 or something like that.

Raider should win but i bet the twingo "wins" on the telly.

Like many a top gear etc in the past they always favour the new stuff and fix things accordingly...

Yes, was a bit surprised by the 'victor' based on lap times. Hard to believe that a few extra bhp and modern setup could make that much difference when 150kgs extra is taken into account. BigSteveT - they mentioned the tyres weren't great on the Raider - were they budget jobbies and unusually skinny as your car looks very standard in the pics?

Just to clarify a few things, the car was fitted with 4 brand new Uniroyal's in original 195 55 13 fitment days before the shoot so the tyres weren't old or off they're just CRAP tyres and even on the day Jason said to me that it was the tyres that let the car down.

Secondly I fitted Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads prior to that day also so the brakes were feeling at their best.

Finally the boost is set at 15psi so she was going well alright. :wink: :wink:

I think on another dry day it would have been much much closer.

Anyway it certainly sounded better, did anyone hear the GTT Angry Burble as it went past camera! Loved it!!

It's ok to like the twingo :lol: I like it but I'd rather have the R5 - especially that one! :D - over the twingo any day of the week

I had it rolling roaded at that boost & it was kicking out EXACTLY what is says it should on the tin! 120BHP :shock:

So i think that Mr Renault was providing 'special' renaults to the press when it was launched..... :wink:

Cup cars ran at 15psi.

I think that's a fair pressure for a fair comparison? Wouldn't want the Twingo getting away too far!! :P :lol:

i drove a mates twingo the other day, very fun, but no where near as fun as the retro 5. the twingo, u might get the odd look. u go down the road in a std 5 turbo and everyone has a little peek. :)

Raider wins for me hands down. Of course, I am not biased in anyway, even though I owned a minter too :roll:

I will be trying a Twingo hopefully later in the year if Renault don't mind me borrowing one for a wee test and little article I hope to write. I'll be asking for the keys to some other cars too.... ;)
