EX RENAULT CLIO CUP MK1 RACE CAR –Ideal for sprints/hillclimbs, tarmac rally--get yourself ready for the 2009 season!!

I bought this car about 6 months ago from a customer, with the intention of using it as a demo car. Plans have now changed, and it is up for sale. Anyone familiar (and most not so familiar!) with Renault Clio’s will be fully aware of how capable they are in the handling and performance departments. As far as FWD hatches go, they are more or less un-rivaled. This makes them the ideal choice for sprint/hillclimb, tarmac/stage rally, and many other forms of motorsport. They are a big favorite for weekend track days also.

This is a genuine CLIO CUP race car that was used for part of a season following the TOCA tour around in the early circa ‘94. It was supported and maintained by Team Think Racing during its professional race days. It then spent up to approx 3 years in dry storage, unused. The previous owner owned the car for two years and had spent many thousands of pounds improving the specification of the car and getting it to the superb condition it is in at present. He had it as a toy, and it spent more time in his heated garage having new parts fitted to it than it did seeing tarmac! It therefore needs nothing, and is absolutely ready to race.
Originally the car had a control engine, which was a Renault sport built/blueprinted F7P (1.8 16v). However most owners have replaced that for the 2.0 Williams engine which produces a lot more low-down torque.
Due to the nature of my business (engine building/performance tuning) I can offer the car with various engine and transmission specifications, to allow for various budgets and usage. See below for more details.

Overall this is a quick and reliable car ready to race/track or. Recently completed modifications make this car on the button and ready to enjoy. As mentioned most modifications are recently fitted and are still AS NEW.
V5 is present, car is currently SORN'd. If you so wished, it could be MOT'd with the addition of a working horn!


BODY:

Genuine CLIO Motorsport Cup Shell fitted with a full roll cage – serial 1285
Freshly painted rear boot lid minus the wiper mechanism to save weight
New Lightweight Polycarbonate Rear Screen
Resprayed front bumper (lightened) and grill meshed, fitted using bonnet pins
Brand new Ultra Lightweight Bonnet painted in Renault white.
Completely de stickered the car down to the standard white colour and blue/white paint scheme to give the car a Fresh new look. (see pics)
Freshly painted engine bay in gloss white.
Underside and arches to a coat of waxoyl in order to protect the shell.
No rust problems whatsoever. The body is not showroom condition as it’s a race car, a few little blemishes/dings here and there, but the overall appearance is very impressive. Lightened Glass and vehicle weights 850kg approximately.

Installed on Lightweight Cobra Side Mounts and professionally fitted for strength.
As new MAGNUM 3inch wide 6 point harness with aircraft style fitting

New DATATOOL LED Revlight (bright as hell)
New Aftermarket Oil pressure guage fitted into dash
New Aftermarket Oil Temp guage fitted into dash

Sparco Deep Dish Race steering wheel and SNAP off Boss Kit
Factory Fitted DEVIL roll cage with rear brace support and side impact bars
Fire extinguisher plumbed into footwell and engine bay

SUSPENSION:

New De Carbon Race Shocks, Dampers and race springs with wider track.
Geometry: ¾ degree negative camber at front, adjusted front castor, slight toe in adjustment. Professionally set-up only a few months back.
Rare Quick CUP steering rack.

WHEELS:

Lightweight Speedline Alloy wheels sprayed in white with as new TOYO road tyres fitted.
Wheel studs and nuts, as opposed to OE bolts, to allow you to swap wheels over easier/quicker.

BRAKES:

New WILLWOOD Dynalite Callipers using new POLY E Brake Pads, rears standard Williams discs with mintex pads. Brand new Castrol response Dot 4 brake fluid. (200 miles use)


PRICING and ENGINE OPTIONS

Fitted with original cup race engine, 1.8 16v. Rebuilt about 18months ago. From the factory these were blueprinted, and are a very rev happy motors.

Fitted with standard Clio Williams 2.0 16v.

In addition to the std 2.0 engine, the car can be fitted with various output 2.0 16v, various spec/configurations available. Anything from just uprated cams& headwork, making approx 180-185bhp to a fully rebuilt race engine, with high compression forged pistons, H section rods, big-valve modified cylinder head (flowing 37% more than std), individual throttle bodies, billet camshafts, titanium spring retainers, after-market ecu, fully calibrated, producing circa 250bhp.
Prices dependent on actual spec and work. For the examples above, £1200 and £8000 respectively.

Standard engine will come with new cambelt kit, waterpump, filters, fluids, and GrpN clutch.
Brand New ASHLEY competition exhaust fitted (98db).

I also have an Avanti close ratio gearbox available. This is a syncro-mesh unit, currently fitted with a standard LSD. The ratios (available on request) are significantly closer than std, and perfectly suited for sprinting. The cluster alone was £2500 new, not including casings and fitting etc.
This is available at an additional £1000, fitted (advertised elsewhere for £1250 unfitted)
