I am i right in thinking that there is an issue with the standard crank sensor on valvers and williams' that wont enable it run with standalone management, and that you need a 172 flywheel and crank sensor to overcome this problem?

Ive tried searching but not come up with anything concrete.

Cheers
alex

Any information on the trigger patterns of both the 16v and 172 would also be greatly appreciated.

Std F7P and williams is Fennix 2x 21-1.
Only one I know of which can be configured to accept this is an Adaptronic.

The Megane F7R and F4R is 60-1.

cheers stan, does that mean if i use the 172 flywheel and crank sensor it will be 60-1?

and does anyone know of any other issues doing it this way

cheers

y not just get a trigger wheel for ford or summat n fit it to the btm pulley?

this has been suggested to me as well, the only thing i was worried about was possible clearance issues with the bottom pulleys being so close to the chassis, unless this isnt an issue as im as yet to familiarise myself with trigger wheels.

I really wouldnt do it that way, with a trigger wheel on crank pulley. Iv edone it, it is doable, and it does work. But its a faff. You need to pin it/locate it , and due to the std pulley shape, this isnt easy. Plus it gets in the way when you remove/install the engine.

There is no problem with using the flywheel. This is my preffered method.
What ecu is it?
The CAS on these give a very weak signal, and so are very susceptable to interference. I would 100% recomend using proper shielded cable.

been a while since iv had a look....but arent there 2 holes in the pulley anyway?? tap these n u fine.

its a go-tech mfi pro, its basically a pre built megasquirt. my mate uses it on his rs turbo and he rates it and as i dont have a massive budget it suits me pretty well.
ive bin in touch with jam-sport as they are the dealers in this country and they reckon it will work no probs with the 60-1 trigger pattern.

also stan what about the flywheel and crank sensor from a megane f7r im assuming this will fit but will it still suffer from the interfernce problem?

No, theres no holes. Thats isnt the issue though. Its the depth of the std pulley. It needs a spacer, which needs to be located, then the wheel, which needs to be located onto the spacer. Thena bracket making.
As I said, it can be done, but it isnt the best solution. If the engine is apart, its a no brainer to fit a 60-1 fly. These are also bigger clutch diameter, so better torque holding.

yes but using shielded cable will solve this,
