alrite guys and girls im getting a DSLR for chrimbo but need to know which one to go for.

either

nikon D40
or
canon 400d refurbished from canon outlet.

am a novice but want to get into it.

Id go for canon, ive used a nikon in the past and i didnt think it was great....imo

thats what i think im gonna go for. have read some good reviews on the nikon but is missing some bits and the 400d seems a good upgrade to it.

i use the Nikon D70. slightly older but i much prefer it to the cannons, unfortunatly i cant really put a reason to this. it might be that i have mainly used Nikons but i find them to be more user friendly. another option for you si to look out for a second hand D80 body. i love that camera and it will be my next upgrade. if your at the RR day in leeds you can have a play on my D70! :D

If you can have a play in the shop, do so.

Different cameras have different operating systems. I love mine but others I've tried I've hated! lol
