Just coming down a hill by work, in the new motor, just came over the brow of a hill and there was a camera van there. It is a small stretch of national speed dual carrigeway ..... I was doing about 124.... What will that be do you reckon?
If you believe that you will believe anything ... I was actually only doing 75 ish.... Well just under 80. Was a 70 mph limit and what is the crack with errors these days? Is that 3 points coming my way? Or what.

Justin..

i'd just sit expecting an NIP. **** all you can do now. its a bonus is one doesnt turn up. iirc you are to be notifed within 14 days. its usually 2 days though. mine was next day lol

Given the margin they allow and the fact your speedo is probably c. 8-10% out at that speed, you were probably only doing about 73 lol

I was a very lucky boy once with 1.05 tonnes on the clock

if you were doing an indicated 75 i think you'll be ok, every car ive had my road angel in has read about 68-70 at an indicated 75, think your allowed 10% plus 2mph also

Justin..
10-10-2008, 19:06
not true ^ i've been NIP'd for doing 35

which is 10% + 2mph?? speedos hardly read out at lower speeds, so speedo error doesnt come into it as much

Yeh I was a bit OTT, sorry about that.

I suppose it depends on the way you read it, i.e. 35 = 3 points or 36 = 3 points.

Sod it - you're allowed up to 20-something mph over in a 30 and still get 3 points so you might as well do 55 ;) LoL

Jamie.
10-10-2008, 21:35
Should have taken the wifes car today as that cannot pull more than 70 up that hill. 1.2's FTW

Not true anymore iirc. 10mph over the speed limit is up to the policeman who caught you to deem it worthy of 3 or 6 points.

My dad got 6 points and 60 quid fine for doin 42 in a 30 in august

They can nick you for anything over the posted limit as that constitutes the offence, but ACPO give a guideline of +10%+2mph, as said above, so they would be being pretty mean if they did you for anything under that, but it can happen (like if you were to argue with the copper about being stopped doing 33mph in a 30mph limit for example - play it cool and you should be let off with just a talking to). At an indicated 75mph in a 70mph limit I'm sure you'll be fine.

if u got on the brakes as soon as you seen the van you,ll be ok..it takes the camera van a few seconds to target you, i wouldnt worry about it as the same things happened to me loads of times.

Cant remember really, just thought ahh shit. I didn't need to brake much and by the time my foot was off the accelerator I was down at 70 anyway. Just have to wait and see.

Are you sure?

Afaik coppers can only give you a 3 point fixed penalty or send you to court, where the Mag's will decide your punishment. I wasn't aware there was a 6 point fixed penalty??

Mag's must have been in a particularly harsh mood for 6 points for 42 in a 30.

Hi there.
in response to your enquiry. In all speed limits the policy in Cheshire is to enforce to Association of Chief Officer Guidelines of the speed limit plus 10% plus 2mph of speed limit.

Regards
Lee Murphy

I have tried to send the attached e-mail to Graeme Troupe but I must have the wrong e-mail address for him. Would you mind forwarding it to someone who could help Jamie, who is a student, to get the information he requires.

Thanks

Hi there,

I am doing some research for a university essay on road safety.

I am polling and casting various data types.

I was wondering if you could tell me what level of tolerance you set in speed camera van's?

I.e. is it 10% plus 2mph etc... Does this vary in different speed limit zones.

Jamie.

Ok, so I lied a bit but I didn't want to say "Hey, have I got away with speeding" But it is looking good.

Justin..
14-10-2008, 18:31
jesus, if you cant take the fault for speeding why bother driving? you might get 3 points but you probably wont in your case, why go to such lengths is beyond me. you sped , you learn to deal with it.

Jamie.
14-10-2008, 18:33
Lol, why are you trying to act like a bellend?

white16valver
14-10-2008, 18:36
I wouldn't say he wasn't trying not to take the fault, just trying to see if he should be expecting a brown envelope through the door!

Justin..
14-10-2008, 21:10
Lol, blah blah blah?
