Are the "Williams" stickers the same as on the Williams 2 in colour? apart from the obvious, number 2?

I now agree with this - after digging out both a genuine 2 and a genuine 3 there is indeed a difference although its bloody hard to make out unless your in direct sun at an angle - also the codes are different so it would be hard to mix them up.

I'm waiting to see how much they go for as I've got a rear arch sticker for a williams 3 going spare in case anyone wants to match both sides after some repair work :D

Ive received two sets of genuine decals from both the 2 and 3, and seen no difference between the 2 and 3. i only have the numbers to compare, but i could see no difference at all

your not looking properly or in the right way/light - they're is a deffo a difference

thankyou. u WILL get them bck i assure you, and if 99percent replicas can be made up ull get a free set also. Ive done the artwork already to size, just waiting on a quote, but i was going off a number 2 and number 3, and both were the same colours....unless the 'williams' as a word was different colours. but yes anyone who has two sets who insists theyre different colours please pm me.

The gold is the same across the range - thats the easy part! the blue on the 'williams' and the '2' are specific to the car (449) and are both different to the 'williams' and the '3' which are both a lighter metallic blue to obviously match (432).

when you put them side by side because the blue content is so small you don't notice it as much as putting a willy 2 and 3 next to each other but catch the light and the metallic flakes in the decal catch the eye and they look totally different to each other - thats the mistake I made when having the decals made up - they're ok for a 3 but when applied to a 2 they looked too light.

How come you had to redraw them? the ones I sent you were a perfect match in size and font?

ok to update all. ive re done the art work because i dont trust other designers. namely becuase when u work for a client, u know that 80percent match and they'll be happy hehe. not good enough for us i say!
ive done the artwork, correct to size. My friends company says im welcome to find the match myself, and he insists he can gt any colours. as daz says, the gold will be the same the blue may indeed be different, i guess the logic wud be that the williams colour itself has changed so the inlay wud too. Im only going off dazs word on this and ive never seen it myself in the decals ive seen, but i would really need a genuine set of williams 2 stickers, and williams 3 (in full) to compare so i can find the exact match.
For all those (incld. fatboy) who have assisted in the proper replicas, rest assured u will get a proper full set yourself for ur car. I cant move on from the issue of whether the inlay is infact different between the 2 and 3. i need to compare and find the vinyls myself

yes but u only sent one set of 'williams'' and apprently daz believes that the differences are to be found there. so i need a williams 2 and 3. personally im not sure, obv the williams 3 stickers would be made later, and so usually would be a bit brighter, but daz insists so, i would need a set of both williams 2 and williams 3

My willy decals are perfect, willy 2's are bleh and the 3's are better than bleh

if your 'guessing' at the blue you might aswell walk away now, I spent weeks and weeks looking for a decent blue match for the 2's using many many different vinyl companies and ringing around for swatches - I reckon I spent £20 just in sample books - the problem is genuine ones are metallic where as blue vinyl is just blue vinyl its never going to work in all lights..

Straight on the blue I chose for the 2's was a good choice but at certain angles its too dark - same with the 3's although the blue I chose works a tad better for those...

For me now theres 3 choices:

1 - Originals (no matter what the cost and if you trust the arch repair man)

2 - Gold outline no infill (if you want to match the blue then its gotta be the REAL blue, if you can get the perfect gold then go willy 1 stylie and use the cars body - I pick up some outline 2's on Tuesday that I'll be play ing with)

3 - Laser printed replicas (I've never looked into this so can't comment too much but at least it would be one sticker rather than a blue layed over a gold base but how you would 'capture' or recreate the metallic elements in the blue is anyones guess

I've been running around for months on a replica 'willams' '2' on my bootlid as my brand new one will get painted at some point and a genuine can go on but its been a good opportunity to live with decent replicas and see what people think - I've not had anyone point out that its fake yet even with all the pictures I've taken and posted on the forum.

daz mate i used to work for a sign firm and have done this hundreds of times, im not guessing. u over lay the gold on the blue, and i know of ten different types of blue mettalic vinyl off hand. i know what im doing mate.

But laying the gold over the blue is a rubbish soultion, as someone who's been using one on a car for months its not a long term solution, dirt gets on the surface of the gold and stays there creating a 'shadow' if you will on the blue - its also a pig to polish as you have the pick it out of the join between the colours.

I'll be happier than anyone if you suceed I honestly will fella but you'll have to forgive me if I remain dubious in the mean time until I see an actual decal for myself. Theres been nothing but talk about decals for months on this forum, seem like theres only been me who's actually put my money where my mouth is, I might not have been successful but at least I tried.

The only half decent ones are the first ones by the look of it.

I have some replicas like the ones in the photos and the arches in the 'm' are too far apart and the 'o' is too big.

Your talking out your arse fella you really are i've got GENUINE WILLY 2 DECALS sat here and the ones I made up and they are PERFECT MATCH or i'd have not accepted them!

If you want to be the daddy or replicas be my guest you go and 'set the standard' and I'll stick with the genuine article...

i dont have a genuine set of willy 2 ones, i know it sound s abit weird arguing over a matter of mm, but if the gold outline round the edge was 4mm out ud soon be moaning.....besides, these are supposed to be as spot on as i can nail - so u guys will have to wait! at least when theyre done hopefully theyll be as good as.
